The Executive, Regatta, and Technical Committees will be holding their Mid Year Meetings over the period from Feb 19 to 23rd for the first time in person for over 2 years. Due to the COVID pandemic, the Mid-Year Meetings last year were held virtually over a series of three zoom meetings.
Although the IODA Committees meet regularly throughout the year, the Mid Year Meetings are when we have the opportunity to plan the strategic direction of the class and set out plans and set goals for the near and longer term.
Having face-to-face meetings this year will enable each committee to make detailed plans for the coming year in terms of our IODA Championships, Technical and Measurement initiatives, coaching and sailor development, as well as Finance reporting and the approval of the 2022 operating budgets.
Next year is the 50th Anniversary of the Optimist becoming an International Class, so the Executive Committee will begin laying out the plans for the celebrations in 2023. It is also the 50th Anniversary of the Optimist World Championship.
We hope to engage all our members, sailors and stakeholders in the celebration of these important milestones throughout next year.
As part of this, we are looking for ideas from our Members on ways to celebrate. Please contact Fiona Kidd at
sec_gen@optiworld.org if you have any ideas or suggestions.
