IOTA in collaboration with The National Trust for Scotland and The Highland Council would like to invite you to a memorable evening at Culloden Battlefield. Touching Distance // Astar Buntainn is a free event that celebrates the anniversary of the battle and invites you to experience the first outcomes from the artists' research residencies, including: free ribbon cockades to take home and a new artist's multiple from Catherine Bertola, an outdoor performance by ROGER&REID featuring large-scale projections, Gaelic singing and films produced with Culloden Academy students, and lastly free stovies.  For more details and directions click here.

Neville Gabie on Tanera

Neville Gabie undertook the first leg of his residency in Achiltibuie during February. If you'd like to see a photo diary of his trip click here. The residency is funded by The Highland Culture Strategic Board. 

Announcement: Sublime Artists' Residency

After much deliberation IOTA is delighted to announce the recipients of the residency are: Stephen Hurrel and Mark Lyken. The artists will spend the summer working along side the University of Aberdeen's marine biologists at the Lighthouse Field Station in Cromarty in order to create new work.

Exploring Hands in Nairn with Janice Parker

As part of their residency at Nairn's Primary Care Centre, Simon Fildes & Katrina McPherson invited award winning choreographer Janice Parker to work with local participants on a series of improvised hand dances. 

Workshops: Saturday 31 March // Free     

Elph_Sublime 2011

IOTA is working with the Highland Skate Parks Association to deliver workshops and develop public art for Inverness' new skate park. During the day committee members will have an interactive presentation from artist/curator Richie Cumming.  

 

10am - 12pm // IG:LU, 19 Church Street // Graphic artist Elph will deliver an introduction to creating and publishing your own zine. (Image: Elph, Freaky Fridays) 

4 - 5pm // Hilton // Drop-in graffiti painting session.

5 - 6pm // Hilton // Painting workshop with Richie & Elph.

Lastly we are delighted to be helping The Highland Council devise ways of engaging the public and incorporating artworks into the River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme. Plans will be on display in Inverness' Town House between 2 - 7pm on Tuesday 3rd April.
