Riverside Health hosted a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on December 4, 2025, to celebrate the opening of the state-of-the-art Riverside Smithfield Hospital, a major addition to the region’s health-care landscape and a significant investment in community well-being. Scheduled to open to the public in early January 2026, the new facility is designed from the ground up to deliver a seamless, patient-first experience that incorporates an impressive range of clinical spaces and advanced care services. With its blend of cutting-edge medical technology and patient-centered design, Riverside Smithfield Hospital is poised to become a cornerstone of healthcare for the community.

COMPANION OF CARE HOME HEALTH, INC. OPENS IN SMITHFIELD

The Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting and Open House on November 20, 2025, to celebrate the opening of the Smithfield location of Companion of Care Home Health, Inc. Licensed since 2009 and operating multiple locations throughout Hampton Roads, Companion of Care Home Health delivers high-quality in-home care and comprehensive services to individuals with health conditions and impairments, enhancing their overall quality of life.

2026 NATIONAL SMALL BUSINESS WEEK AWARD NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has opened nominations for the 2026 National Small Business Week Awards. National Small Business Week recognizes the contributions of America’s 36 million small businesses – which make up 99% of all businesses in America, create two out of every three new jobs, and employ about half of America’s workforce. Next year, National Small Business Week will take place May 3 – 9, 2026.

National awards will be presented during a ceremony in Washington, D.C., during National Small Business Week, taking place May 3-9, 2026. Local awards will be presented in the VA-Richmond District also during National Small Business Week.

A business owner from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam will be selected for State Small Business Person of the Year awards. 

National award categories include:
