Collaboration Hub
The Collaboration Hub is a monthly series of webinars hosted by the International Professional Association for Transport & Health (IPATH) . It features open discussion on real-world practice topics led by a cross-disciplinary team of transport and health professionals.

Each presenter (or presentation team) will provide 15-20 minutes of introductory information, which will be followed by open discussion. This is a time for on-line participants to join the conversation and brainstorm on HOW to implement change and/or come up with innovative transport design and planning infrastructure schemes.
FREE WEBINAR: Transit During & After COVID-19
PART I Friday, 22 May 2020 - 11:00 AM EST (USA)
PART II Friday, 29 May 2020 - 11:00 AM EST (USA)

Hosted by:
Steve Yaffe , Yaffe Mobility Consulting LLC and IPATH Committee Chair, Transit Family of Services
Carrie Diamond , Training and Technical Assistance Specialist, Easter Seals
Transit ridership has plummeted – but many essential workers including employees at hospitals, long-term care facilities, and those abiding by state mandated stay-at-home orders need access to grocery stores and other services that can only be reached through transit connections. This webinar is divided into two separate webinars due to the complexity and need for in-depth active discussion by the participants.

PART I Friday, 22 May 2020 - 11:00 AM EST (USA)
This webinar will focus on TRANSIT DURING COVID-19 pandemic. We will begin with a brief introduction to the Transit Family of Services concept, COVID-19 health considerations for transit to include Centers for Disease Control & Prevention unreleased recommendations.

Questions to ponder prior to attending the webinar:
  • How frequently should vehicle interiors and station turnstiles be wiped down during the day, assuming full sanitizing is done nightly?
  • Should bus operators and riders both be expected to wear masks and accept a contact-tracing app?
  • Should transit services be redesigned to assume that COVID-19 doesn't go away?
  • What new partnerships have formed during the pandemic focused on essential connections (e.g. food deserts and essential workers)?

Presentations will be followed by OPEN/brainstorming discussion.

Please take a few minutes prior to the webinar to review the list of transit COVID-19 resources available at:
PART II Friday, 29 May 2020 - 11:00 AM EST (USA)
There is no need to register for PART II, if you have participated in Part I of the webinar)

This webinar will focus on TRANSIT AFTER COVID-19 including Pre-COVID transit trends which will tie to the Transit Family of Services concept, COVID-19 structural considerations for transit highlighting material from a May 7th briefing webinar by UITP Secretary General, Mohamed Mezghani

Questions to get you thinking before the second webinar:
  • How can transit convince riders to return? What Messaging & Framing should be used?
  • Should transit routes, frequencies and schedules be redesigned to assume that COVID-19 doesn't go away?
  • Should Transit go (remain) cashless? Account-based payment only with retail outlets and kiosks for cash-users?
  • How can Transit be financially sustained, if COVID-19 remains?

Presentations will be followed by OPEN/brainstorming discussion (10-20 minutes). Make sure you have reviewed the resources provided for PART I of the webinar series.
This FREE webinar series will be presented using Zoom.com . A calendar invitation will be sent to you along with a reminder email 24 hours prior to the webinar.
