Inaugural Governor's Public Health Commission Meeting Available for Viewing

IPHA was invited to join the Governor's Public Health Commission and participated in the inaugural meeting on Thursday, September 16. The meeting discussed current challenges in public health for Hoosiers and brought together representatives from public health, local government, and healthcare associations to identify ways to improve public health services throughout the state.


If you missed the livestream, a recording of Thursday's meeting is available at www.in.gov/gphc. You can also view the next meeting 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 on the Indiana Department of Health YouTube channel.

October Virtual Meet-Up with InSOPHE

The next IPHA Virtual Lunch Meet-Up will take place on Tuesday, October 19 from 12-1pm. Our presenter will be Rachel Fogleman, CHES, Continuing Education Director for the Indiana Society for Public Health Education (InSOPHE) and Programming Coordinator for Midwest AIDS Training and Education Center. Optimal Health for All Workshops

The Center for Health Equity at Indiana University and the Indiana State Department of Health's Division of Chronic Disease, Primary Care, and Rural Health is hosting an online Optimal Health for All Workshop Series with events for Indianapolis (October 1), Gary (October 15) and New Albany (November 12).

The workshops cover the current landscape for disability and health in Indiana, common barriers for people with disabilities in healthcare settings, and disability awareness, sensitivity, and effective communication. American Public Health Association Annual Meeting

The APHA Annual Meeting & Expo is coming up October 24-27! Hosted for in-person attendees in Denver, sessions will also be live-streamed for virtual attendees to listen in. The 2021 theme is "Creating the Healthiest Nation: Strengthening Social Connectedness." You can check out the schedule overview for the full event here. If you are presenting at the annual meeting or will be attending in-person in Denver, please let us know! We want to connect with you and promote participation from Indiana!

Find Trainings from the Network of National Library of Medicine

The Network of the National Library of Medicine aims to connect individuals with equal access to information. Their efforts include specific outreach to public health departments, and they offer classes and trainings (live or self-directed), CHES credits, funding opportunities, and more. Membership is free and members can network with other member organizations throughout the state! You can being exploring the resources NNLM has to offer by viewing their training schedule here.
