Other Stories We Shared This Week:
Education Secretary Calls for Increased Funding for IDEA
We shared this article about Education Secretary Michael Cardona calling for increased funding for IDEA. From the article:

...Cardona specifically highlighted special education as an area that needs attention.

“It means increasing funding for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act so that every eligible child with a disability can access a free, appropriate public education,” Cardona said. “It means not allowing for a culture of low standards or low expectations for some students and families over others.”

2022 Aviation Art Contest
We shared this from the Idaho Department of Education:

First place winners receive an invitation to ride in an airplane! The 2022 Aviation Art Contest, sponsored by the Idaho Division Of Aeronautics, is open to Idaho students ages 5-18!

This year's theme is "Aviation Gets You There" - contestants must submit their original, 2-dimensional artwork by April 15, 2022. Find details on this page, under the "Art Contest" tab:

Boise Schools Virtual Peace Room
We shared this from the Boise School District:

We are operating in uncharted territory right now that nobody could have possibly imagined or prepared for. Your Boise Schools Student Services Team (social workers, counselors, school psychs and nurses) want you to know that your feelings are valid, no matter what they are. You might feel scared, confused, overwhelmed, angry, alone, grateful, or completely calm. You might feel many things at once, like being upset that an event was cancelled, but happy that you can wear pajamas all day. Your feelings are normal; the situation is not. Don't forget to breathe.

This Virtual Peace Room is a place for students and families to find tools and strategies for managing emotions and feelings. We are here to support you!
