IR-4 Supports New Tool to Fight Weeds in Fig Orchards |
|
For years, fig growers have fought broadleaf weeds on orchard floors with herbicides such as glyphosate. As more weed species developed resistance to glyphosate, fig growers approached the IR-4 Project with a request to find new tools to ensure a healthy, weed-free crop for consumers.

Clematis is a genus in Ranunculaceae (buttercup family) and is commonly known as clematis, but another name for this climbing vine is leather flower. The name comes from the Greek klema, which means "climbing vine."

2022 IR-4 Project Research Symposium: Food Crops
Registration is now open for the inaugural IR-4 Project Research Symposium, taking place on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. During this virtual event, presenters will share research results from Integrated Solutions and Product Performance trials on food crops. Results from these trials are used to identify potential pest management solutions and to support product registration.

IR-4 Northeast Region Annual Meeting |
|
The IR-4 Northeast Region is hosting an annual meeting for everyone associated with the production of specialty crops in the Northeast. The meeting will take place virtually on Wednesday, April 20, at 2 p.m. EDT.
Almost all pesticide registrations for specialty crops are the result of IR-4 efforts. IR-4 also provides support for biopesticide and organic pest management strategies for growers of fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, horticulture, and nursery crops. During the Northeast Region Annual Meeting, staff will provide updates on important changes in the organization, answer questions, and ask for support and ideas.

Save the Dates: 2022 Industry Technology Session and Food Use Workshop |

Thursday, July 21, 2022 (Location: Virtual)
The annual event gives companies the opportunity to present updates on products already in IR-4 research, as well as new technologies.
September 13-15, 2022 (Location: Bloomington, Minnesota)
Research priorities for residue studies, efficacy and crop safety research, and integrated solutions projects for 2023 will be identified during this workshop.
