From Chickpeas to Quinoa: EPA Expands Four Crop Groups
The EPA has released the sixth in a series of updates to pesticide crop groupings. These changes add new commodities and subgroups to Legume and Cereal Grain crop groups, benefiting specialty crop growers, consumers, and research stakeholders.

This month, over 100 representatives from the specialty crop industry— including commodity representatives, university researchers, government representatives, and more— joined us in Bloomington, MN as we identified residue, product performance, and integrated solutions research projects for 2023.

IR-4 HQ Welcomes Jaimin Patel |
|
Dr. Jaimin Patel joined IR-4 Headquarters as Principal Plant Pathologist in September.
Jaimin joins us from Lincoln University of Missouri, where he served as an assistant professor of plant pathology. Prior to that he was a research scientist at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY and held two postdoctoral associate positions at the University of Florida, one at the Tropical Research and Education Center and the other at the Mid-Florida Research and Education Center. Jaimin has over 10 years of experience in applied pest management in horticultural crops under U.S. EPA Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Jaimin comes to us with experience in IR-4 sponsored research; he has attended several of the IR-4 Project’s priority setting sessions and worked on a funded project which will make his transition onto our team a seamless one.
Jaimin has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in agriculture from Anand Agricultural University, India majoring in Plant Pathology and minoring in Entomology, and a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from North Dakota State University. IR-4 HQ Welcomes Hannah Ross |
|
IR-4 Project Headquarters at NC State University is pleased to announce the hiring of Hannah Ross as the IR-4 Project's new National Information and Communications Officer. In this capacity, Hannah will be responsible for leading and managing information and content development, brand management, website and social media for the IR-4 Project’s Headquarters. Hannah will also be closely working with partner agency staff across the United States.
Hannah comes to us with a wealth of experience in agriculture, communications and creative brand building. Hannah has worked in a variety of capacities including as a garden educator, a floral business owner, a gardener, and a farmer training programs coordinator. Most recently she has been a freelance garden content writer for HGTV, WALTER Magazine, and Coastal Review Online. Hannah’s combined experience in both agriculture and communications will bring great value to this position!
Hannah has a bachelor’s degree in Communications Studies from Clemson University, and a master’s degree in Environmental Studies from Brown University.
