A "Thank You" Cocktail Party for the Board of Directors Departing

The New Year brought with it new IRCC Board members to welcome aboard, and Board members to hail farewell. A welcome/thank you cocktail party was in order, complete with savory hors d'oeuvres and a mountain of shrimp at the At Ease Club!

Grants Benefit Active Military and Homeless Veterans
IRCC Foundation provides $5,000 to Operation Warm Heart, $2,000 to National Veterans Homeless Support

(VIERA, FL) December 25, 2023– Once more, the veterans at Indian River Colony Club (IRCC) have donated to help make life better for their brothers and sisters in arms. In early December, the IRCC Foundation approved two grants, presenting a $5,000 check to Operation Warm Heart, along with a $2,000 check to National Veterans Homeless Support. Operation Warm Heart (OWH) receives, manage, and distribute funds to deserving members of the U.S. Armed Forces assigned to Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB) and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) and their families. The fund is managed by local members of the First Sergeants Council to help Airmen and Guardians deal with emergencies and other unforeseen situations. Volunteers with National Veterans Homeless Support tackle veteran homelessness directly where it exists, finding clients through street level outreach. The group provides homeless vets with the basics to ensure their survival, while building rapport and connecting them to a network of community partners– moving them rapidly from homeless to housed. IRCC's 2023 Employee of the Year, Michelle Adams

Michelle Adams is the Executive Assistant to Indian River Colony Club General Manager John Robinson -- and she is also the 2023 Employee of the Year! Michelle was spotlighted at the 2023 Annual Meeting on December 7 and presented with a certificate by Tim Higgins, IRCC Foundation Chair. On Wednesday, December 27, Michelle will celebrate two years with IRCC! So what does an Executive Assistant do? For starters, she:

  • Attends all meetings with the GM
  • Creates meeting minutes for the Board of Directors, Marketing Comm., Planning & Policy Comm., and the IRCC Foundation
  • Manages GM and Admin room calendars
  • Reviews and edits corporate documents
  • Coordinates all annual meeting correspondence and participants

Florida's Space Coast - Great American Defense Communities

Did you know that the Space Coast is one of just five recently named Great American Defense Communities for 2022? According to the April 6 press release from Washington, D.C. –

Florida’s Space Coast, home to Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, is one of five communities across the country named to the 2022 Class of Great American Defense Communities.

The Association of Defense Communities (ADC) announced the five selected communities in conjunction with USAA, the program’s official sponsor at the Defense Communities National Summit earlier this month. The 2022 class also includes West Valley Partners, Ariz., Tullahoma, Tenn., Antelope Valley, Calif., and Northern Virginia.

“Our military needs America’s defense communities to support them,” ADC President Bob Ross said. “We selected Florida’s Space Coast because they are a region that consistently goes above and beyond to support service members, veterans, and military families living in their community.”
