The fall season is truly one of my favorites signifying new beginnings and opportunities for growth.
A new beginning emerged three years ago when I volunteered to lead this committee to create a DEI mission statement for our chapter. Three years later, we achieved that goal and so many others to include our annual Dinner Drinks and DEI event which provides a platform for courageous conversations, Redlining presentations, newsletters, and trips to museums.
Like the leaves that descend from the trees, I will vacate my role as DEI Chair to meet my mantra – leaders grow leaders. I’m excited that Dani Bressler, Trevor Ankeny and Sheri Levine volunteered to be our 2025Co-Chairs. I will continue to serve on this committee and on the national DEI Advisory Council. I am excited about this change for our chapter.
To end on another celebratory note, our committee has been recognized around the globe. We modeled the way and helped other chapters with their DEI initiatives. Because of this, I have been named as a 2024 finalist for the IREM DEI Excellence Award for which I am truly humbled and honored. This acknowledgment is not just for me, but for ALL of you who support this important initiative by serving on the committee, reading our newsletters, attending our events, and remaining culturally curious. I also encourage you to earn the IREM DEI Skill Badge to enhance your understanding.
As always, thanks again for your support! I hope you enjoy this new season and cycle. I look forward to learning and growing with you as we strive to be beacons of change.
