In this this webinar, a panel of ITS and road safety engineering experts will share how dozens of agencies including Los Angeles, Austin, Calgary, and Montreal are transforming their approach to road safety using video analytics powered by artificial intelligence. The key idea underlying the use of video analytics in road safety is that engineers who detect patterns of near-misses can act to prevent fatalities before they occur.
ITS executive Andrew More from Miovision will discuss the rapid expansion of camera assets and related applications to intersection performance measurement. Road safety engineer Craig Milligan from MicroTraffic will discuss, using case studies, how agencies are starting to use these cameras as diagnostic tools to support vision zero. This includes performing detailed diagnostics of known problem locations, conducting proactive network screening and prioritization, and conducting rapid before-after assessments in road safety. Transportation engineering consultant Fred Greenhough from Al-Terra Engineering will discuss how he and his firm have successfully integrated video diagnostics into their road safety audit and assessment practice.
