Starting Medical School, Fall 2021 Where has life taken you since Immaculata? I graduated from Immaculata in 2016 and then went on to complete a degree in medical and molecular biochemistry at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. In the...
This brings us to our next point. We are working hard in securing all the best costs for the many updates we want to make to the Learning Commons. One of them is changing the flooring. Purchasing the materials is one thing...but if we could find a family member out there who knows about installing vinyl plank...
CREATIVE ENTREPRENEURSHIP STARTS EARLY
Immaculata’s very own Emil Feeny, 15, is the founder of Okanagan Paddle Boards. The Grade 10 student started this business with “the mission to provide high-quality paddle boards at an affordable price that is accessible to all outdoor enthusiasts”. This is not the first time Emiliano has set out to pursue his entrepreneurship spirit, but this time he entered the Remarkable Students Competition, where his project could win up to $10,000. This competition sponsored by CIBC through StudentLife Network encourages all “student creators, inventors and do-gooders” to submit their projects and have viewers vote for their favourites. We are so proud of Emil, and we encourage you to check out his project and vote for him here (under Okanagan Paddle Boards, scroll up to see the bio) https://remarkablestudents.ca/gallery
Also, check out his website and Instagram for a chance to win a free paddleboard. Details in link.
Monday, May 31st, and Friday, June 4th, from 3:05 to 4:00 pm.
See Mr. Richard for more details.
WE HAVE A PROBLEM...
We are such a great school and so welcoming that we have lots of students coming next year.
This is a great problem to have!
It means our international program is alive and well. We are looking for a few more families who can offer a private furnished bedroom with a window and a welcoming environment. We pay $925 per month per student. If you’d like to learn more, please contact Shelley Brodeur at firstname.lastname@example.org
We are still offering $100 VISA cards for all referrals that we place students with.
EXAMS ARE COMING
Scheduled for the week of June 10 to June 16th. Of course, not over the weekend!
As if you needed one more reason to take Physics or Calculus in grade 12...here is a bonus one: the "End of the Year Physics Trip". This year, Mr. Witkowski did not let Covid hamper the spirit of the trip and managed to take the grade 12s on two fabulous excursions. First, the grade 12 physics and calculus students applied principles of electromagnetism when they donned their light-emitting and receiving devices to play a few rounds of laser tag!
Next, they explored multiple physics units as they completed their physics walk at the track at Locolanding in Penticton, before partaking in a friendly go-cart race. As Chowski says: "We find physics in everything!" Right you are Mr. W.
P.E. DEPARTMENT IS ROCKING!
PE 10 students at the top of Knox Mountain on one of their weekly hikes!
The PE 11/12 class received a tremendous opportunity Thursday for a lesson at Gallagher’s Canyon. Thank you to Jonathan Garratt and Josh Johnston for great lessons for our students. The students took part in putting, chipping, and iron stations with some competitions which were all won by the girls team. A fun time was had by all!
Have a look at this fun video of two of our golf enthusiasts juggling a golf ball...wait for it...
Please note, there will NOT be a practice next Monday. School soccer is now over for the year.
