CATHOLIC SCHOOL WEEK 2021
Next week, we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week with the other Catholic schools in BC. Catholic Schools Week is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible gift that Catholic Schools offer our community. We have organized some Covid-friendly activities for the students and staff with more information coming on Monday. In true Immaculata spirit, we plan to incorporate a service project into our week. We will be hosting our second food drive of the school year for Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We are asking students to bring the following foods to their homeroom to help their class accumulate points towards the CSW Grand Prize!! Food will be collected Monday to Friday. Thank you!
Grade 8 – Peanut butter
Grade 9 – Pasta & pasta sauce
Grade 10 – Boxed cereal
Grade 11 – Pork & beans
Grade 12 – Liquid anti-bacterial hand soap
HOMESTAY OPPORTUNITIES 2021/22
The International Program is calling all warm, welcoming Immaculata families to consider hosting an International student next fall. This is an amazing opportunity to learn about another culture and show a student the great things about living in Canada. We are looking for families whose language at home is English and who have a spare furnished bedroom that they can offer a student. We ask you to provide students with transportation to and from school as well as meals and snacks. We also ask that you welcome the student into your family and treat him/her as one of your own. We offer tax-free compensation of $925 per month. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact Mrs. Brodeur at the email below. Thank you!

TEXTBOOK RETURN
Attention grades 10-12, remember that with the end of the semester comes the end of your textbooks loan. Please return your textbooks now as they are all technically overdue.
Don't worry, no interrogation, but if you do not return the books signed out to you, they will be marked as "lost" and you will be charged for a replacement cost (TIP: you don't want that!).
With many thanks,
Your friendly neighbourhood school librarian,
Mrs. U.
SPAIN EXCHANGE NEWS
Registrations for Spain Exchange 2021-22 are open:
Spanish students will come on September-October 2021.
Immaculata students will go for March 2022. (Both dates depending on conditions of the pandemic).
This is a fantastic opportunity to visit a new country, learn about its culture, and meet new people. Most importantly to become more global competent; a soft skill which is in high demand for the new real world.
For detailed information talk to Ms. Ana Vallejos at the International Education Department or to your Homeroom teacher.
STAY TUNED...
NEW EMAIL ADDRESSES FOR E TRANSFERS
Just a reminder that we now have auto-deposit for e-transfers. If you have any questions about what email to use, please ask (it will save a lot of work transferring funds between accounts). Also, please be clear in the note what funds are for.

SCHOOL HIGHLIGHTS
FINE ARTS ARE ALIVE AND WELL
Students from all the Visual Arts classes have their work on display this winter semester in our Virtual Art Exhibition. This exhibition has unfortunately taken the place of an “in person” art show that usually takes place in December and for several years has served as a successful fundraiser for our Fine Arts program.
Included in the exhibition you will find projects incorporating watercolour and ink, one-point perspective, a Japanese art form known as Notan Art, as well as term projects created in the students’ own choice of medium. You can click on the “play” button to have a guided tour through the art, or you can move yourself through the exhibit. Want to find out more about who created the artwork? Simply click on the art and a description pops up (usually with the artist’s name, but if it was a term project, it will also have a description).
LEADERSHIP
In honour of our 60th anniversary, we have been praying the rosary for grad classes of the past. It is a small gesture to recognize those who helped make Immaculata what it is today. Each month, the Religion classes pray for a specific grad class.
CATHOLIC CORNER
I was taken by this Catholic Story in Living With Christ (January 2021) that reminded me of the Mother Teresa quote I have included this week (see Catholic Corner). In a week when we have been under the many stresses and strains of exams and end of semester work. Let us be reminded by stories such as these that Pouring out from the heart of Jesus is his never ending love. The lucky ones from The Beatles to Mother Teresa and all those in between know this and act it out everyday.
M. Wilson.
Please CALL the office at

and leave a recorded message for Mrs. Despins if your child will be absent or late.
It is very important that every student is accounted for when marked away and Mrs. Despins will be calling if she has not heard from you
  • Continued prayers for those affected by Covid-19
  • Loving Father, As I gaze upon the new life That blossoms forth in springtime, May my life be for others A sign of Your love. Amen. heartofthenation.org
