September is
Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Increase Awareness. Build Resiliency.

In 2017, more first responders died by suicide than in the line of duty. The Department of Justice released a report to Congress in 2021, and found two successful ways to lower suicide rates among first responders were using support networks and creating an environment to lower the stigma and fear around asking for help.

In an effort to help destigmatize mental health crises occurring within the first responder community, IRMA is offering four training opportunities targeted for police and fire personnel.

Security & Compliance - IAM VS PAM
In current remote and hybrid work environment, companies are exploring different options available for the devices employees use to access the company network/infrastructure. Many are looking into options for Privileged Management Access (PAM) and Identity Access Management (IAM) as they are common methods used for high levels of security and provide access to corporate applications, regardless of their location and device type.

Welcome to IRMA's New Training Room!
IRMA opened it's new training room for the first time this month, hosting four events. The Public Works Steering Committee kicked off the use of the room, holding it's August Meeting. This was followed by three training programs held with industrial hygiene expert Dennis Teripin. In September, we will be hosting the Police Department Resiliency training programs.

Playground Inspection Visit Results:
Time to Increase Inspections

IRMA’s loss control visit focused on playground safety, previously known as the Playground Safety Inspection (PSI), was in need of an update. In late 2021 and early 2022, staff reviewed and revised this visit and made modifications to the structure, evaluation questionnaire, recommendations, and preparation materials. Members started receiving the new visit in Spring of 2022.
