Beginning in 2023, IRMA is partnering with KnowBe4, the world's largest integrated platform for security awareness training combined with simulated phishing attacks, to provide members with the KnowBe4 program at a reduced rate.

Recent Phishing Attacks
Two recent phishing attacks against IRMA members have resulted in wrongful payments of significant amounts to fraudulent vendors. Phishing is a type of online fraud that involves tricking people into providing sensitive information, such as passwords or credit card numbers, by masquerading as a trustworthy source. Sources indicate that phishing attacks have increased 61% since 2021.

Village of Bartlett & Bartlett Fire Protection District
In 2022, IRMA received the most IRMA Award Applications in recent years. It is our pleasure to highlight all Member programs as they all provide value in reducing municipal risk and increasing safety.

The Village of Bartlett and Bartlett Fire Protection District coordinated an in-depth 3-day active shooter training program. This real-life scenario training included participation from Trustees, neighboring agencies, school districts, church parishioners, DU-COMM, and Central DuPage Hospital. Although there is a time investment, the costs are minimal and there are significant benefits of this type of training to employees, neighboring agencies, and communities.

The most recent global cyber attacks that cause the most harm took advantage of computer systems that had not remedied known vulnerabilities. The security patches for most operating systems had been issued, and at this point updates have been issued that remedy all of the operating system deficiencies. However, hackers are still able to successfully exploit vulnerabilities because companies do not install the updates.
