IRMA Office is Moving,
and Saving Money
At the IRMA BOD meeting on March 16, the members approved a new office lease that will save the pool almost $700,000 over the next decade – and that’s a conservative estimate. With the expiration of our current Westchester lease at the end of this year, we started looking at options over 2 years ago. The timing worked in our favor with the significant pandemic impact on the commercial real estate market, allowing us to secure a new lease in Westmont near Route 83 and Ogden Avenue at a starting rate of $20 per square foot, which is a significant discount from our current rate. The new office suite will be constructed for IRMA’s needs, including a large training room as we continue to expand our training offerings to members. The new landlord will not only pay the full turnkey construction costs, but has agreed to provide IRMA an additional $51,000 to cover moving costs and some new furniture. We will be in our new location January, 2022.

Ashli has started on a part-time basis and will join IRMA full time on April 14 so there is transition time working with Rita and the finance team. Ashli comes to IRMA after working at the City of Crest Hill for 10 years. She has her MBA in Accounting and her BS in Business Management.

Two Recent Arbitration Wins Hold Third Parties Accountable
|
|
IRMA staff protect our members’ interests in holding responsible third parties accountable for damages they cause. As such, when an employee is in a car accident with a third party and the accident is the fault of the third part, we will pursue reimbursement of our costs from the third-party insurance company. It is fairly common that these third-party insurance companies refuse to pay what they owe. That’s when we file for arbitration to make sure we collect all that we are entitled to.

Keys to a Successful Aquatic Facility Start-Up
Aquatic facility start-up is no easy task. And for most aquatic facilities that did not open in 2020 due to pandemic restrictions, it has been 20+ months since your equipment was last operated. For this reason, troubleshooting mechanical issues this year may be more difficult than in seasons past.

Swimming Facility Guidance-COVID-19 Safety Procedures
As aquatic facilities prepare for a (hopefully) less restrictive summer season than in 2020, many questions are arising as to how best to interpret the sometimes-vague guidance of IDPH and the CDC. IRMA member aquatic facilities vary greatly, from bather loads to quantity of pools, to number of staff needed, and general facility layout.
