Former IRMA Chair, Western Springs Manager Ingrid Velkme retires
We wish Ingrid all the best as she starts a new chapter after a successful career in local government. In addition to multiple awards recognizing her contributions to public service, Ingrid served on IRMA’s Coverage Claims and Litigation Committee as well as the IRMA Executive Board. She was also employed at IRMA as the Manager of Program Development. We will miss her.

ILOSHA Releases Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Mandates
ILOSHA has released un update on the Emergency Temporary Standard for COVID-19 vaccine mandates that federal OSHA is expected to adopt for employers of 100 or more employees. As we wait for more information on this mandate and how it will affect public employees in Illinois, IRMA highly encourages reviewing recent correspondence regarding preparing for vaccine mandates in the workplace on our COVID-19 Resource Page.

The Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal and Illinois Environmental Protection Agency drafted a new fact sheet with information about PFAS in AFFF and identifies the new statutory requirements specific to Class B firefighting foam.

Court Rules Defect in Sidewalk is De Minimis
On September 1, 2021, the DuPage County Circuit Court rejected claims made against the Village of Woodridge by a resident who tripped on a sidewalk hazard in June 2019. The resident specifically tripped on a “grade separation” between slabs of concrete, with a ¾” difference in height between the two concrete blocks.
