Dear Intermediate School Families,

It is hard to believe that the end of the first nine weeks of school will be this Wednesday, October 26! Students will have a half day on Friday, October 28, and will be off for conferences on Monday, October 31, and Tuesday, November 1.

The 2022 Horseshoe Hustle is coming on Friday, November 4, 2022! The PTG is excited to bring back our favorite and biggest Fall fundraiser. What is the Horseshoe Hustle? The Horseshoe Hustle is a school-wide jogathon-like fundraiser focused on physical activity! Every student in the school will participate. The PTG asks each student to raise at least $20 to help reach its $15,000 fundraising goal. Why donate and volunteer? The funds raised go towards field trips, yearbooks, assemblies, field day, fifth-grade picnic, trackers, and MORE! We cannot continue to offer these for free to every student if we do not hustle together to raise funds! Also, students win prizes for funds raised, and the class from each grade with the highest amount raised wins a party of their choice!  Click here to donate  Click here to volunteer

Meet our Team

Mrs. Henigman

Mrs. Henigman is the 4th-grade learning support teacher at the IS. She is in her fourth year at CVIS but worked at CV middle school and high school before joining the IS team. She received her B.A. in Child Development and Education from Washington and Jefferson College and her M. Ed. in Special Education from Waynesburg University. Mrs. Henigman earned her high school diploma from Chartiers Valley in 2006! Mrs. Henigman is certified in Elementary Education K-6, Special Education K-12, Mid-Level Math 6-8, Mid-Level Social Studies 6-8, Mid-Level English 6-8, and Secondary English 9-12.

Mrs. Henigman enjoys spending time with her family: her husband (a fellow CV grad), her Goldendoodle Rooney, and her two kids, Harrison (5) and Quinn (2). Together, they enjoy going for walks, making crafts, and listening to music. Personally, Mrs. Henigman loves Disney, Starbucks, and Target (very basic). Mrs. Henigman hates how quickly her kids are growing up but also looks forward to sleeping through the night (hopefully) sometime soon.

Ms. Hoffman

Miss Hoffman is the 5th-grade learning support teacher at the IS. She previously worked here in 2018-2019 and has wanted to work here permanently ever since! She is enjoying her first year working with all of you!

Miss Hoffman has been teaching for seven years. She graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood/Special Education and earned her English as a Second Language certification last year. Previously, Miss Hoffman worked in a neighboring district and at a cyber school in Sewickley. While working from home was great, she is happy to be back in the classroom with students!

Miss Hoffman enjoys working out at F45 Training in the Strip District, shopping, and traveling outside of school! She recently visited Hawaii in April.

During the month of October, we'll share some resources on how to keep stay safe online. CISA has compiled a list of free cybersecurity tools and services to help organizations further advance their security capabilities.
