14 September 2020 | Chartiers Valley Intermediate School
Dear IS Families,

Beginning this week, Intermediate School students will be assigned an assessment called the Classroom Diagnostic Tool (CDT) in their Google Classroom.  The Classroom Diagnostic Tools assessments are a set of tests that help teachers gauge a student’s mastery of specific academic skills.  The CDTs are based on content assessed by the PSSA.  Although not a predictor for PSSA performance, CDTs provide a snapshot on why and how students may still be struggling or exceeding grade and/or course Eligible Content.  The CDT data, along with other data, will inform instruction in a timely and efficient manner.
As your child takes the assessment this week through a Google Classroom assignment online, please encourage them to try their best.  We recognize this assessment may be easy or challenging at times for students, but please encourage and praise their efforts.

Classroom teachers will be sharing their login information.  For more information on the CDT, click here.

The CDT assessment schedule is as follows:
ELA- September 14-18
Math- September 21-25
Science- September 28 - October 2

Library News
If you found a CVIS library book at home, please send it in with your child to return or drop it off at the IS main office.  There are still over 400 library books from the 2019-2020 school year that have not been returned.  We have some great ideas for getting books in the hands of kids, but we need your help getting those books back in the library first!

We know how exciting birthdays are for children.  However, due to COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to allow students to distribute any items for birthdays or other occasions.

NHS Tutoring Program
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented an unprecedented start to the school year. Online/hybrid school can be very stressful for students and families. As an attempt to relieve some of this stress, the CV National Honor Society is organizing a tutoring service for students K-8 in the Chartiers Valley community. This service is free of charge and is managed by high school members of National Honor Society. Zoom will be utilized for a one hour (maximum) session. Tutoring hours will be held Monday through Friday from 3-8 pm and on Sundays from 2-5 pm. If you are interested, please fill out the form below.
We will be in contact with you once a date, time, and tutor has been confirmed!
