CALL FOR PRESENTERS FOR THE 2024 NATIONAL PTA VIRTUAL CONVENTION
The call for presenters for the 2024 National PTA Virtual Convention is NOW OPEN and YOU are invited to share your workshop proposals. We are seeking thought leaders with impactful ideas and experience to help us achieve our mission.
All proposals will be peer reviewed and chosen based on their demonstrated effectiveness to engage and inspire excellence for PTA leaders. Applications must be submitted by 9 PM, December 10. REAL MADRID FOUNDATION SUMMER CAMP
The Real Madrid Foundation Summer Camp for Bellevue School District students is returning this summer from July 15–19! This soccer summer camp is open to students between the ages of 6 and 17, of all playing levels from beginner to advanced. The camp will be hosted at Highland Middle School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (with an option to extend the time from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The Real Madrid Foundation is offering fifteen scholarships, and there will be additional scholarships added if funding is available. COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID FOCUS WEEK
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form has been redesigned and streamlined for the 2024-25 college year. Because of this, the release of the FAFSA has been delayed. The new FAFSA form should be available by December 31, 2023.
To help students and families prepare for the release of the FAFSA, high schools are holding a ‘Financial Aid Focus Week’ from December 4-8. NEW BILINGUAL PROGRAMS
The Bellevue School District Multilingual Learners (MLL) department is delighted to offer two new programs for the 2024-2025 school year. We welcome a Korean Bilingual Program at Newport Heights Elementary School and a Hindi Bilingual Program at Ardmore Elementary School. Both programs will be accepting applications for incoming kindergarten students for the fall of the 2024-2025 school year beginning on Monday, December 11, and continuing until Friday, January 19. These programs are open to both in-district and out-of-district students entering kindergarten and require no prior language experience.
Families interested in learning more are invited to attend the following information nights:
- Hindi Bilingual Program Information Night: Tuesday, December 12, at Ardmore Elementary School
- Korean Bilingual Program Information Night: Thursday, December 14, at Newport Heights Elementary School

GARDEN D'LIGHTS 2023
Garden d’Lights features over half a million sparkling lights formed into the whimsical shapes of plants, flowers, birds, animals, and cascading waterfalls set amid the natural beauty of the Bellevue Botanical Garden.

LIGHTED BOAT PARADE
Each night, from late November to December 23, the Argosy Christmas Ship sails to different Puget Sound waterfront locations. Other lighted boats join in to make a boat parade. At departure, return, and/or planned stops en route, the public is invited to gather on shore, view the ships, and listen to the ship’s choir sing (broadcast via a speaker system). Some locations feature a bonfire as well!

THE WINTER PORCH LIGHT PARADE
The cities of Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, and Shoreline will be hosting the fourth annual Winter Porch Light Parade -- a winter program showcasing communities shining bright during the holiday season. These four cities invite their communities to create light displays that will become part of a virtual holiday map, marking the many traditions celebrated during winter.
Embark on this exciting holiday light adventure at your leisure throughout the month of December. Whether you are bundled up with your family or friends, this is the perfect tradition to see the magic of lights from the ease of your car throughout four cities in the Pacific Northwest.
- Insider Tip: The light displays are best seen between 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. -- we recommend planning your route using the virtual Winter Porch Light Parade Map. This is a self-guided driving experience.

CROSS-CULTURAL CENTER WITHOUT WALLS: COMMUNITY WORKSHOP #3
Are you interested in running a cross-cultural program as part of the city's traveling Cross-Cultural Center without Walls? If so, the City of Bellevue and the Diversity Advantage Team invite you to attend our Community Workshop to learn more about how you can get involved.
In this third and final Community Workshop, our staff will share the major findings from the last two Community Workshops, including the key ideas generated from over 125 community participants. Organizations will have the opportunity to start exploring partnerships and developing project ideas and will learn the next steps for submitting proposals for cross-cultural projects.
