Please feel free to submit articles—our submission guidelines are below. And if you have any interest in helping out with the Monday Messenger, or even taking it over, please let us know! news@isptsa.org
COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO CREATE SUCCESS AT IS!

It is important that we continue to stay connected this year. Sign up to be a PTSA member to help our school stay #1 in the state and continue to be the only secondary school with 100% PTSA membership, supporting each and every student at IS.

Please contact Meribeth Nordloef-Pedersen with questions: membership@isptsa.org.

#MaskUpWA

BSD has been sharing information related to the state’s #MaskUpWA campaign. Wearing face coverings, along with adhering to physical distancing, is one of the most effective ways to stop the spread of COVID-19. We are encouraging our learning community to follow the current guidelines in order to help stop the spread, which is vital to reopening our buildings and bringing students back to classrooms for in-person learning. The Washington State Department of Health created a short video available in English and Spanish that shows how to properly wear a face covering and how to care for face coverings.
SCHOOL NEWS
BACK-TO-BUSINESS DAYS

Wednesday, August 19
& Thursday August 20

With the model of school this year, we will be adjusting our traditional Back-to-Business Days. While some processes will be delayed (such as school pictures) and others moved online (locker assignments and fees), there are some tasks that must be taken care of before school begins.

This year, Back to Business days will be a time for students to check out their laptops (including making sure all necessary software is downloaded and configured), check out textbooks, and pick up last year’s yearbook, as well as senior sweats.

Families have been assigned specific time slots on August 19 & 20 as a way to spread out the number of people onsite at one time.

"NEW TO INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL" MEEET & GREET

ONLINE STUDENT DATA VERIFICATION

Parents and guardians are required to verify their student’s information annually. Families will be able to complete this process electronically via ParentVUE. Health updates are included in this data update. Even if nothing has changed for your student, you will need to complete this process to verify that all information is accurate.

The Online Student Data Verification process for the 2020-21 school year will start on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Starting on August 19, parents and guardians can update student information by signing into ParentVUE. Upon logging in the first time, you will be directed to data verification. On August 19, parents and guardians can:
  • Update their address online and provide required proofs of address electronically,
  • Update student demographic data,
  • Manage student emergency contacts,
  • Update photo permissions.
FINALFORMS

All families will need to sign up their student through FinalForms. This is a platform that the district will be using to manage student participation in all clubs, activities, and school/class field trips. Families are required to register their student once each year as this will significantly reduce paperwork and redundancy of forms to be filled out. Look for an email from FinalForms for instructions. While the full amount of trips and activities will be different than the past, we are looking to provide opportunities for students to connect outside of school.
SCHOOL MESSENGER
International and the Bellevue School District uses the School Messenger notification system to send important announcements to parents and guardians via phone calls, emails and text messages. This will be the primary communication system from the school for this year. You can decide how you would like to be contacted by setting up a Contact Manager account. You DO NOT need to create an account to receive notifications. You will automatically receive calls and messages to the phone number and email address we have on file in your student’s profile. By setting up a Contact Manager account, you can adjust how you prefer to be notified. You can also add additional phone, text, and email contact information. Click here to set up your account.
