TEXTILE STUDY GROUP
The Textile Study Group of which I am a member recently held it's AGM at Hillscourt in Birmingham. We are 25 members and all members were present at some point during the weekend, which is always lovely to see. It is also a great opportunity to catch up and reflect on all that we have been doing! The main trust of the weekend was the photography sessions, with each member being allocated a 40 minute slot with the photographers. The work being photographed was for our new up and coming publication 'Insights', which will be launched at 'The Festival of Quilts' 2020 and where we will also be having an exhibition of our work.
I shall be giving a lecture about bark cloth on the Thursday, called 'Barking up the right tree', so do book if you wish to learn more about this fascinating fabric and see what I have been doing with it.
Mary Sleigh has travelled extensively in both Southern and Western Africa and will be giving a lecture entitled 'Traditional Textile Techniques of West Africa'.
Shelley Rhodes will also be giving a stimulating lecture called 'Exploring a Theme'. Shelley's work is very thought provoking and exquisitely worked.
Tickets go on sale on the 6th April.
