SPRING IS ON ITS WAY

TEXTILE STUDY GROUP

The Textile Study Group of which I am a member recently held it's AGM at Hillscourt in Birmingham. We are 25 members and all members were present at some point during the weekend, which is always lovely to see. It is also a great opportunity to catch up and reflect on all that we have been doing! The main trust of the weekend was the photography sessions, with each member being allocated a 40 minute slot with the photographers. The work being photographed was for our new up and coming publication 'Insights', which will be launched at 'The Festival of Quilts' 2020 and where we will also be having an exhibition of our work.

I shall be giving a lecture about bark cloth on the Thursday, called 'Barking up the right tree',  so do book if you wish to learn more about this fascinating fabric and see what I have been doing with it.

Mary Sleigh has travelled extensively in both Southern and Western Africa and will be giving a lecture entitled 'Traditional Textile Techniques of West Africa'.

Shelley Rhodes will also be giving a stimulating lecture called 'Exploring a Theme'. Shelley's work is very thought provoking and exquisitely worked.

Tickets go on sale on the 6th April.

EMBROIDERY

If any of you get the Embroidery magazine you may have noticed an article that I have written on bark cloth. For those of you that don't get this publication here is a taster.

COURSES

I am looking forward to welcoming my first batch of tutors to Moor Hall. Dru Cole with her amazing lino cut prints kicks off with a day workshop on March.

In April we have three workshops, with my lovely friends, Sarah Burgess, Jean Littlejohn and Ruth Kirkby.  Sarah has taught once before at Moor Hall and I am looking forward to welcoming her back.

Jean is a regular and I so enjoy her presence and her superb workshops.

Ruth is coming to tutor here for the first time. I know her reputation as an artist and teacher and we will be in for a treat I am sure.

There is such a lovely mix of workshops ranging from 1 to 3 days and all delivered by these expert teachers. It can be useful to put your name down on the  waiting lists if a course is full, so just get in touch by emailing  ME

STUDIO SALES

Work is gradually going and I hope to be posting a few more pieces up soon.............yes I have mountains of work!!!!! You can actually pop over to my WEBSITE to view more, although not everything on there is for sale.

The quilts, hangings and panels below, will be going for very reduced prices and whats more 50% of all sales will be going to some environmental scheme or maybe something local connected with tree planting. I am close to finding a place to be sending some money, but am waiting for them to get back to me.

I am posting below images of what is currently on show and for sale in my studio and if anyone wants to pop over and snap up a bargain, please ring first to make sure that someone is at home to welcome you. Items can also be posted out to you for whatever it costs, somewhere between £5 and £15.

This is what customers have had to say about the work:
