A message from the President

Dear ISACA South Florida Chapter followers;

This is our first newsletter with the new board and we are so excited to meet you. Below you will see a snapshot of our most important activities. We are trying to achieve a lot more for our members, academicians, students, professionals and our community in South Florida. Please join our events and activities that we advocate. We really spend many days and hours to achieve much more than what you see below. We are here for you!

Hill Day in Washington DC

Recently on September 15, our ISACA South Florida Chapter was among 5 chapters throughout the country that were selected to represent ISACA with a lobbying visit to Capitol Hill to meet with members of congress to further educate and promote "Digital Trust" as one of the main developing challenges for the professional and social ecosystem. We teamed up with our CEO and Chapter leaders to meet Florida politicians in Congress.

Board Strategic Planning Meeting

Our Board of Directors held their first in person + virtual meeting for the Strategic Planning of our 2022-2023 year on September 18. From left to right, Diana, Gilberto, Pete, Sandra, Mehmet and Daniel. We are all very excited for the upcoming events this year!

How to effectively review a SOC Report - Webinar

We have started our webinars and seminars for CPEs! We would like to thank our "Rockstar!" Past President Rob Valdez for a great presentation over how to effectively review SOC reports. Despite the hurricane, we had a very successful amount of participants from around the world.

ISACA CommunITy Day

ISACA South Florida Chapter took part in ISACA's Global CommunITy Day on October 1st, which started in New Zealand in continued all over the globe following the world time. We all had a beautiful day at Dania Beach where we cleaned up one of our local beaches while having great conversations, good laughs and a lot of fun! A big THANK YOU! to our members and volunteers who were able to give their valuable time for the cleanup.

Thanks a lot for the effort! There will be more volunteer events to come.

ISACA/ISC2 and SIM Board Collaboration Meeting

Our President Mehmet Uvey and Director of Programs Daniel Rosenberg had a dinner meeting on October 26 with ISC2 President Arturo Santos and the Community Outreach Chair, Sam Pahlavan for future collaborations and joint events between both organizations. Similarly our Board met with members of the SIM South Florida Board to host two of our future joint events, our Christmas Party and the Cyber Insurance Panel.

CISO Skills Social: Cracking the code on High Performance Teams - In Person Event

To wrap up our month, we had our first live in person seminar on October 27! The seminar was titled: Cracking the code on high performance teams, and was provided by Dr. Domingo Castillo, CISO of the Miami Dade College. For the upcoming year, we want to emphasize getting our community back together for more in person events. Please stay tuned for more!
