"To Infinity and Beyond!" John Breed will be covering technology innovation and professionally managing change.

Speaker Biography:
John C. Breed has extensive experience developing, leading and consulting businesses as an entrepreneur, C-suite executive, management consultant, sales executive and a college faculty member. John has a passion for teaching, developing products, building client relationships, mentoring students, and growing companies. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, John Breed worked several years at IBM as a Management Consultant with expertise in IT strategy, ERP implementations, supply chain and change management. John was a consultant on multiple major projects including projects with the Hershey Company, Essex Wire, and United States Army. As an Entrepreneur, John has started, led and sold multiple successful businesses including ventures in e-commerce, food service, printing and graphic design.

Management at organizations across the globe are increasingly aware of the importance of cybersecurity as cyberattacks began to become a familiar presence in headline news. The danger of a sensitive data leak for organizations have pushed them to redefine the role of what a CISO looks like and subsequently the skillsets they are looking for to fulfill these roles. Eduardo Cabrera, Trend Micro’s Chief Cybersecurity Officer, will discuss his career as a CISO, how the role is evolving, and how viewers can prepare to take on the challenges of the position in the future.

Speaker Biography:
Eduardo E. Cabrera is a trusted advisor and a proven cybersecurity leader. He is responsible for analyzing emerging cybersecurity threats to develop innovative and resilient enterprise risk management strategies for Fortune 500 clients and strategic partners. Before joining Trend Micro, he was a 20-year veteran of the United States Secret Service with experience leading information security, cyber investigative, and protective programs in support of the Secret Service integrated mission of protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure and its leaders. He is also a guest lecturer at New York University Polytechnic Institute, Computer Science and Engineering Department.

Women Technology Leaders: A Lesson for Women's History Month

Event Overview:
In honor of Women’s History Month, please join us for our SheLeadsTech luncheon on March 13. We will honor two leaders who have led the way for women in technology. In addition to hearing about their journey, SheLeadsTech will share highlights of women’s progress through the years with fun trivia and facts. We will also announce the SheLeadsTech Spotlight Awards winners: Woman in Tech Leadership Award, Male Advocacy Leadership Award, and Academic Leadership Award. 

Speaker Biographies:
Martha Tuthill, Executive Vice President, ProCom Consulting
Martha Tuthill leads ProCom Consulting’s state and local government practice. She has over 30 years of experience consulting with clients to achieve better outcomes. Prior to ProCom, her experience includes leading Accenture’s North American public sector delivery practice as well as serving as Accenture’s Chief Operations Officer for their Communications and High Tech private industry sector. She has spent most of her career bridging the gap between the needs of the program and organizational leaders and the technology personnel who support them. She has worked with Fortune 500 clients all over the globe.

April Blackburn, Acting Assistant Secretary of Finance and Administration and the Chief of Transportation, Florida Department of Transportation
April Blackburn is the Acting Assistant Secretary of Finance and Administration and the Chief of Transportation Technology at the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). FDOT is responsible for one of the largest and most extensive transportation systems in the country. April has been involved in the development of the FDOT’s Technology Strategic Plan, Information Technology/Operational Technology Alignment, Civil Integrated Management and is the leader of the newly developed Transportation Technology Office. With 29 years of experience operating in the IT public sector, April specializes in developing and implementing technology.

BREAKING: NIST plans to move up the release date on the initial public draft of SP 800-171, Revision 2 to 02-14-2019. They want to get this critical update to our customers before February 15 in the event of a second government shutdown.

SheLeadsTech Spotlight:
Nominations are Open
SheLeadsTech is a program seeking to increase the representation of women in technology leadership roles and the tech workforce. Please help us spotlight a deserving individual for their contribution to tech locally, advocacy for women in the tech industry, or their contributions to developing the next generation of female tech leaders. The three categories for nominations are:
·        Woman in Tech Leadership Award: recognizes a female within the Tallahassee Metro area who has demonstrated exceptional leadership within the tech community.
·        Male Advocacy Leadership Award: recognizes a male who demonstrates exceptional leadership by supporting the professional development and promotion of women in technology within their companies, organizations or the field at large.
·        Academic Leadership Award:  recognizes an individual in academia for the development and implementation of an innovative teaching technique or program that inspires female student interest regarding further educational and/or career pursuits of technology.

The nomination deadline is March 1, 2019. The first SheLeadsTech Spotlight winners will be announced during the ISACA Tallahassee SheLeadsTech’s, “Local Women Technology Leaders: A Lesson for Women’s History Month” luncheon on March 13, 2019.
