Does Your Board Have An Investment Committee?

This week, I want to share some advice and guidance from the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB) with regards to overseeing your school's endowment. Many schools have an investment committee that is specifically responsible for the school's endowment. " Optimizing the Selection of Investment Committee Members" is the topic of a recent AGB blog post that provides a useful grid of skills and other recommendations to help inform your process of selecting investment committee members. Some suggestions may surprise you. For example, the blog describes why money management professionals are not always good investment committee members. We can learn some lessons from higher education boards about selecting committee members for our investment committees and the provided checklist is an easy tool to use for that purpose.
