A Snapshot of Race in Independent Schools

I was curious to know the independent schools trends with regard to racial diversity among students and faculty. Has racial diversity overall been increasing or decreasing? Has faculty diversity increased with increased student diversity? I went to the NAIS/DASL website to create some data reports to show some trends over the past 5 years and here is what I found when looking Day schools, Day/Boarding schools, and Boarding/Day schools..

Overall, Day schools have the highest percentages of racial diversity among students and faculty. Student racial diversity is greater than faculty racial diversity. Boarding/Day schools are on a divergent trajectory with student racial diversity increasing while faculty racial diversity is decreasing. Both Day Schools and Boarding/Day Schools saw a decline in faculty racial diversity between the '19 - '20 and '20 - '21 year. Have you looked at the data trends at your own school to determine if you are on the trajectory you desire?
