What Private Schools Can Expect in the First Months of a
Biden Administration

As we usher in a New Year and a new presidential administration, private schools should expect to see some changes in education policies related to LGBTQ rights, immigration and civil rights - restoring many Obama-era policies that were reversed by the current administration.

"Schools will need to determine how to best implement this guidance once it is restored. Administrators may want to consider the use of pronouns, dress codes, bathrooms, field trip accommodations and issues relating to sports. As they engage in renovations and upgrades to their campuses, schools could consider planning for unisex bathrooms, showers, locker rooms and other facilities to facilitate these new directives."

Whether you have a formal DEI Committee on your board or are working on DEI issues with your school's administration in other ways, it will be important to monitor policy changes implemented by the new administration. This article will help you anticipate what you should be paying particular attention to as you work on your school's DEI policies, culture and practices.
