The NEW Idaho State Tax Commission Offices on Chinden - My first visit!
Monday was the State Tax Commissioner's first Open Meeting at their new location - 11321 W. Chinden Blvd., Bldg. 2 (former HP campus) - and I am impressed with the facility.

The campus is much easier to get to than I anticipated. It took me less than 15 mins from my office which was a great surprise. The space feels contemporary, was spacious and the meeting room was very comfortable.

As I understand it, they have moved about 215 employees to the campus, with about 75-100 left still to move over. The audit division is already "on campus" but in a separate building temporarily, as they wait for their area to be completed this fall.

All in all - congratulations ISTC on your new home!

Looks like it was a great move.

The nomination process to the State Board of Accountancy is open now.
Our Idaho Society of CPAs suggests members, who are voted on at the annual meeting, as nominees for the positions opening up in September. This year we have two.

The governor's office also accepts and appreciates public nominations.
So, if you are interested, you are welcome and encouraged to apply. Click here for more information and to apply.

If you aren't interested this year, but would like to be considered for future openings, please let me know, so I can reach out.
A NOTE from LAURA:

It keeps hitting me, with different issues that come across my desk, that ADVOCACY is the core of my work. It's in everything I do and it's vital to the CPA profession and how you do your work in our state. I am thankful to have the opportunity to do this work and am constantly reminded of the importance.

Advocacy in all its forms seeks to ensure that people, whether on a social or professional platform, are able to have their voice heard, be part of the conversation and have their views and wishes considered when decisions are being made about their lives.

So whether it's working to protect your CPA license , safe-guarding your interests at the legislature, or working on an issue with the Idaho State Tax Commission, the IRS or the State Board - the Society is your advocate. If there is a process that can be improved - let's try. We can reach out to our partners to work to fix it. I can't guarantee anything, but I represent you and I will always give it my best.
