We are introducing an exciting new online app that we feel will improve networking and communications among our membership:
Instant Church Directory is an easy to use mobile and online app that members can use to access personal emails, phone numbers, and addresses for fellow members.
It also provides you an overview of the church organizational structure to assist with networking among groups. The app is password protected so your personal data is secure. Friends of ISD who regularly participate but who are not members may request to be added to the group. Look for an email with instructions and background information.

Meditation for Mystics, Healers, and Seers
Meditation is a self-care practice that allows us to quiet our minds, calm our physical bodies, and go within to reach a heightened level of awareness. This three-part class looks at the art, the history, the science, and the magic of meditation from three unique perspectives with three instructors. Join Rev. Diana, Rev. Story, and Rev. Renee as they lead you on a journey towards discovering the benefits and joys of meditation for yourself.

Foundations 101: Activating Psychic Pathways
As spiritual beings how do we receive our psychic information? In what ways are we receiving messages, reading energy, and experiencing those things around us that we cannot physically hear, see, or touch?
And as human beings, how do we interact and understand those around us in the physical world? How do we begin to learn what we are receiving intuitively and what is the ‘junk’ that we have picked up from others?
This two-session class, led by Rev. Renee Ranke, will help us to understand how we are receiving our telepathic messages and in what ways we can 'energize' our psychic sensitivity.

Foundations 102: Harnessing Psychic Abilities
It is said that we all have psychic abilities, but how do we harness and expand them? In this 2-part class, with Psychic Medium, Diana Friedell, learn the safe way of opening the door to intuitive messages, meet personal spirit guides in meditation, and learn the 7 Spirit Guides of Theosophy. Through fun games & exercises, develop confidence and clarity in your intuitive answers, both for yourself, and for others.

Muscle Testing 101: The Art of Surrendering First
Kimberly Winsor, RPP, LMT, teaches us the ins and outs, the do’s and don'ts of muscle testing- a technique used much like dowsing, using one's own body to cipher out truth for any given situation. Answers come in a yes/no format, so attention is paid to learning how to ask questions, with lots of fun practice. Attend on Zoom, or in person at the new Lotus Center.

ASTROLOGY FORECAST (Jan 26 - Feb 2)
We have a return of a recurring theme this week. A Stellium of planets in Capricorn once more. This has been a major influence for much of the last 6 weeks. It gives us another chance to move forward with the best of Capricorn's energies.
STELLIUM IN CAPRICORN:
MARS - It is exalted in Capricorn. (An Exalted placement is when a planet is particularly comfortable, or "at home" in a sign.)
VENUS - Still in an unusually long transit due to her retrograde.
MERCURY retrogrades back into Capricorn on the 26th. PLUTO - Since 2008 and is in the final year before moving into Aquarius.
What does this present? How do we benefit from this Stellium?
Capricorn is stable, structured, practical, and Earth based. But it also has a wandering, exploratory quality. Great detail and examination of all aspects is a native quality. Capricorn is prominent, and will assist, in any efforts to partner WITH the Earth, as an alternative to exploitation.
This week ALL of the planets considered to be personal planets are together in Capricorn; Mercury, Venus, and Mars are close to the Sun, and to us. They have faster orbits that result in many different sign placements within individuals. That brings a great variety of thought and expression. Attention to the Earth element is very appropriate. What is your relationship with the land and the planet?
The variety creates a complex mix of personal preferences. Pluto, on the other hand, moves slowly enough that entire generations are born with the same Natal chart sign placement for this outer planet.
This week, therefore, might be an opportunity to take the very best of all our ideas and accomplishments forward with a workable structure. We have the Sun in Aquarius and Jupiter in Pisces bringing expansive vision and abundant luck. We may be able to find a surprising way to move on with cooperation and tolerance if we can avoid the afflicted aspects of the planets and signs.
Those afflicted aspects in this case are stubborn control and authoritarianism.
The opportunity to reap what we have sown, collectively and individually, is a significant influence now. The strong emphasis on Capricorn helps in creating a wonderful structure/container for our new visions for the Aquarian Age.
The Moon begins in Scorpio this week and traverses through Sagittarius, Capricorn (yes, Capricorn!), and finishes in Aquarius.
Those with Natal Moons in these signs will find added help.
The New Moon is on February 1st, joining the Sun and Saturn in Aquarius.
The cusp energies between Capricorn and Aquarius are blending right now, just as the Aquarian Age picks up in intensity following the Age of Pisces.
Try to create the best of both worlds, as much as you can, so that your changing life is fluid and comfortable rather than jarring and traumatic.

- An ancient Hebrew amulet has been found at an archaeological site in Samaria where the biblical altar of Joshua is located. The amulet contains a mark resembling a lotus flower as well as the Hebrew letter ‘Aleph’. The Jerusalem Post article with details is Here.

Each day at 5 PM EST, we will pause for about 10 minutes and meditate and pray with the intention of sending healing energy to all.

What is the Institute for Spiritual Development?
It's both a metaphysical church and an educational center originally founded 40 yrs ago in Sparta, NJ. With the belief that all paths lead us Home, ISD is dedicated to helping each spirit walk their path with courage and joy.
We stand for each individual’s right to seek their own personal Truth, as they respect the same right for others. We honor the sacred texts of all traditions of the Light.
The Oneonta NY chapter of ISD was Lovingly created by Rev. Diana Friedell & her sister Rev. Sue Landon. We are now led by a powerful leadership team, and executive board.
ISD is a spiritual community that focuses on healing and intuitive connection, and the joy of finding the spirit connection within rather than being told how it should or could be experienced.
We welcome those who want to belong to a spiritual group of like-minded people, in which you can explore and find your own path in a community of love and support.
There are classes, services, events, and a sense of community and fellowship. Energy healing and intuitive messages are delivered as a regular part of the worship service.
