Monthly Highlights

In September, ISGH collaborated with Islamic Relief USA for the Day of Dignity at Masjid Hamza. With the help of our volunteers, we were able to distribute 1,000 food boxes to those in need, and 1,000 recipients were served Wellcare services.

ISGH JOB NETWORKING HIGHLIGHTS

On September 16th, the ISGH Job Networking Committee hosted its first Team Appreciation Dinner.

Over the past 5 years, this hard-working committee has seen exponential growth, none of which would be possible without community support and team commitment.

We were joined by our wonderful volunteers and some of their family members to celebrate their commitment to the uplifting of the Greater Houston Area. More than 50% of our volunteers were able to come and share the progress updates.

We recognized Omar Akhtar (Resume Team) and Sumiyyah Hye (Education Dept) as they were an integral part of setting up these services and departments. Our longest-serving volunteers were also especially recognized for being consistently available for most events!

Notably, Br. Roger Yelton, Br. Bassel Choucair, Sr. Azeema Rahman, and Br. Najeed Ismail came to thank and appreciate the volunteers!

Collaboration with ISGH Sisters' Committee

In a heartwarming display of community collaboration, ISGH Job Networking and ISGH Sisters’ Committee joined forces to offer two essential computer skills classes in the month of September to women in the Synott and Katy area. These events were met with resounding success and were warmly embraced by the local community, marking a significant step towards empowerment and inclusivity.

The collaboration between these two ISGH committees reflects the power of teamwork in making a positive impact on the community. It is crucial to equip women with essential computer skills in today’s digital world.

2023 AMJA Conference

ISGH Job Networking participated in the American Muslim Jurists Association (AMJA) conference last weekend (Sept 22-24), where we set up a booth to showcase our programs and services related to job networking and employment support. This event provided an excellent opportunity for us to engage with imams and other attendees, fostering valuable connections and promoting our initiatives aimed at empowering the Muslim community in the Greater Houston area.
