Indiana Muslim Cemetery: Honoring Our Legacy, Resting in the Direction of the Sunnah
Dear Community Members,
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) is honored to introduce the Indiana Muslim Cemetery Project, a dedicated initiative to serve the long‑term needs of our community.
Through this project, we are working to secure and develop an exclusive Muslim section at West Ridge Park Cemetery, officially designated as the Indiana Muslim Cemetery. This section has been carefully surveyed so that all graves will be oriented in the direction recommended in the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet ﷺ, ensuring our brothers and sisters are laid to rest with dignity and in accordance with Islamic tradition.
To fully bring this vision to life, we need your generous support.
Your donations will help:
- Secure and develop the dedicated Muslim section
- Cover initial setup, administrative, and maintenance-related costs
- Ensure affordable and dignified burial options for Muslims in our region for years to come
- Help provide financial support for those who cannot afford the plot
This is a unique opportunity to take part in Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity). Every future burial, every du’a made by a grieving family, and every act of remembrance in this space can be a source of continuous reward for you and your loved ones, insha’Allah.
“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
(Sahih Muslim)
We invite you to donate generously and to share this campaign with family and friends. No amount is too small – every contribution brings us closer to providing this essential service to our community.
Please support the Indiana Muslim Cemetery Project today and make this a legacy of mercy, dignity, and faith.
JazakumAllahu khairan for your support and du’as.

Faith and Fasting on the Frontlines
Muslim Military Chaplaincy in 2026
By Wendy Díaz
Mar/Apr 26
Some Muslims may not associate Islam with the U.S. military, but there are many Muslims who are in the armed forces. Every military base provides religious accommodations for service members of all faiths, including Islam. Every branch of the military has Muslim chaplains who support the spiritual needs of soldiers and their families. They even offer classes on Islam to active-duty soldiers and their families and host Jummah prayers...

Green Ramadan Brings Sustainability to the Holy Month
A Conversation with Environmental Activist Kori Majeed
By Ammarah Ahmed
When Muslims gather to break their fast at sunset during Ramadan, the moment carries a sense of reflection and gratitude shaped by hours of discipline and remembrance. For Kori Majeed, a faith-based environmental activist and mother of five in Maryland, it was during these blessed moments that she realized that something didn’t feel quite right. Watching how quickly single-use plastic cups were being discarded at mosque iftars revealed something she could no longer ignore...

Stereotypes on Screen
The Impact of Portrayals of Muslims in Entertainment
By Erum Ikramullah
Mar/Apr 26
Image cred: ISPU
Research shows news media coverage of Muslims is biased and linked to increased anti-Muslim attitudes and support for anti-Muslim policies. Little is known about the impact of entertainment media coverage of Muslims on intergroup attitudes and support for anti-Muslim policies though. Muslims, a highly targeted group in the United States, are often depicted as villains (e.g., terrorists, chauvinists) in entertainment. There is a dearth of research on the consequences of such tropes on people’s attitudes toward Muslims or the influence such tropes have on people’s support for policies that affect Muslims...

When Islamophobia Wears a Thobe
How the UAE and Allied Regimes Export Fear to the West
By Faisal Kutty
Mar/Apr 26
UAE Embassy, Washington, D.C.
For some Muslims in the West, Islamophobia is understood primarily as a product of Western history — colonialism, Orientalism, post-9/11 securitization, and the rise of the far-right. That account is incomplete. Over the past decade, a growing body of investigative journalism and academic analysis has documented a more complex and troubling reality: some Muslim-majority states, particularly the United Arab Emirates, have played a direct and sustained role in shaping Islamophobic policies, narratives, and legal frameworks in Europe and North America...
