Volume 26 | No.1 | January 2024

Evelyn Handel
ISOPP President

I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful holiday season. The new year has already started off on an exciting note for ISOPP with the introduction of no-fee membership starting January 1, 2024.

On that note, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all new and returning members! And a friendly reminder to existing members to renew if you haven’t already since January 1st of this year.

If you would like to help spread the word about ISOPP and support our mission to work together to advance oncology pharmacy care around the world, click here for a printable poster as well as text to use for social media posts, newsletter articles, and more. Also check out the Virtual Library for resources and tools you can apply in your practice.

I am also excited to share that we have many volunteer opportunities available and encourage you to consider getting more involved! Please read below to learn more about our open positions including the new EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) task force, social media leads, and increased focus on sustainability.

In the coming months, the ISOPP leadership team will be finalizing the next iteration of our Strategic Plan to support the new 10-year vision. Lots of great work and projects are also ongoing by our committees and task forces including Advocacy, Awards, Education, Engagement & Communications, Finance, Governance, and Research.

In addition, the ISOPP Global Oncology Pharmacy Leaders meetings are continuing quarterly, and the last one was held on January 24th. The group is currently collaborating on a global survey to be sent out later this year to assess oncology pharmacy service levels as well as educational frameworks around the world. We hope to continue to increase representation globally, and if you are interested in helping to coordinate a nomination for a representative from your country, please contact us.

Thank you to everyone for being a part of our global oncology pharmacy community.

With Warm Regards,

Evelyn

ISOPP is happy to announce funding to three applicants: 1) The Ramsay Health Care Greenslopes Private Hospital, Australia, 2) The Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital, Kenya, and 3) University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria, to participate in the case study for ISOPP’s accredited OPAB program.

Oncology pharmacists from these hospitals will complete the program and each participating hospital will conduct an assessment to understand how learning from the program led to overall changes in patient care at their respective practice site(s).

Details of these case study data will be presented at ISOPP's 2025 International Symposium (dates and venue to be announced).

Stay tuned for more innovative educational initiatives from ISOPP!!
