Snapshot of Success: Highlights from Our 23rd Week!

Exploring Water Science: A Field Trip to Mesa Water District

On Thursday, Jupiter and Saturn students embarked on an educational field trip to Mesa Water District, where they explored the science and technology behind water treatment and conservation. They began with an informative tour of the district's water facilities, learning about the processes of groundwater filtration, desalination, and water recycling. Scientists and engineers demonstrated how Mesa Water ensures a clean and sustainable water supply by removing impurities and replenishing local reservoirs. Students participated in hands-on activities, such as sand and extracting water from the inside the ground. The trip provided a fascinating, real-world application of chemistry, environmental science, and engineering, inspiring students to think critically about sustainable water management.

Weekly Interview

Hailey Landa, Saturn

Meet Hailey! This is her first year at ISSAC, along with her brother, Jayden. Hailey is in the fifth grade, and her birthday is March 14, 2014. Hailey's hobbies include soccer, rollerblading, ice skating, and tennis. She describes herself as outgoing, and her teacher, Mr. Andrew, says she is humorous, friendly, and gets along well with everyone. Hailey is inspired by her mother, whom she says is brave because she rescues animals. With her family, she enjoys visiting the park and local theme parks.

Hailey, thank you for being such a positive role model here at ISSAC!

Reese Kempton, Venus

Reese is eight years old and in the third grade. Her favorite subjects are reading, math, and science. She enjoys learning from Mr. Andrew because he "gives easy, but also hard work."

Reese's most memorable moment at ISSAC was Undoukai. Her hobbies include gymnastics and volleyball. She is the proud big sister of two baby brothers, Zander and Payton. She has been busy helping her moms with cleaning and feeding the babies. Reese also has an older sister, Kyla, who is ten and also attends ISSAC.

Reese and her family enjoy watching movies together, playing board games, and swimming in the pool. She recently had the opportunity to visit Hawaii with her grandparents and aunts, where she had fun at the beach.

Reese wants to be a dentist in the future. What she is most proud of is having friends and the opportunity to learn at school. Mr. Andrew considers Reese to be exuberant, very sociable, and a caring friend to her classmates.
