IMMIGRATION STATION
Looking for a summer job or internship?

Many students have expressed interest in summer work, volunteer opportunities, or internships. While we encourage you to explore your options, please remember to be mindful of  employment regulations  for F-1 visa holders. Some of these include:

  • Off-campus internships (paid or unpaid) can only be authorized as Curricular Practical Training (CPT) if you are concurrently enrolled in a course that requires an internship during the summer - there are no exceptions to this requirement.
  • On-campus jobs: You can work up to 40 hours per week on campus in any hourly student position during the summer if you are not enrolled in any classes. If you take classes over the summer, you can work up to 20 hours on campus.

We encourage you to reach out to the office of Career and Professional Development for assistance in your job search. If you have any questions or concerns about summer work or internships, please make an appointment with an International Student Advisor by contacting [email protected] or visit us during our walk-in hours.
