IMMIGRATION STATION
Graduating in May?
OPT Applications open February 10!

OPT advising sessions will take place every Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 pm, Thursday from 9:30-10:30 am, and Friday from 2:00-3:00 pm. To sign up for an advising session or find another time that meets your schedule, email [email protected].

While waiting for an in-person appointment, please watch the webinar and view the presentation by clicking the buttons below. Most of your questions will be answered in those sources. If you are ready, you can start your OPT request via the ISSS Portal (isss.uncg.edu)
Reminder about Filing Taxes
You’re legally required to file a tax return if you worked in the US or received a stipend, grant or allowance. Even if you didn’t work or receive income in the US, you’re still legally obliged to file Form 8843 with the IRS . All you need to do is:

  1. Register and follow the simple instructions
  2. Complete the online questionnaire
  3. Enter your unique code SpTx2019UNSG101F in the box on the ‘Review your order’ page
  4. Sprintax will prepare your tax return.
 
As a reminder, you must print, sign and mail your documents once you complete the preparation process in the Sprintax software. If you have any questions, please use the live chat function in Sprintax and the team will be happy to help.

Immigration Attorney Visit on February 12 and 13

Immigration attorney, Art Serratelli, has generously offered to host a FREE workshop for F-1 visa holders on "Immigration Options after Graduation." If you are considering changing to an H1B visa, applying for a green card, or changing your immigration status in any way, we encourage you to attend.

The workshops will be hosted at the following dates and times:
  • Wednesday, February 12 from 2:30-4:00pm in Foust 208
  • Thursday, February 13 from 12:00-1:30pm in Foust 206

Join the iAmbassadors on a trip to Hanging Rock on March 21!

The 2020 iAmbassador Team is working with UNCG's Outdoor Adventures to organize a hiking trip for all international students for spending quality of time while getting to know each other. 

Based on your responses, the trip has been set for an all-day visit to Hanging Rock State Park on Saturday, March 21! We will send more information soon on program cost (will not exceed $20/person) and how to sign up. Stay tuned!

Outdoor Adventures program is running other trips during the Spring Semester! They offer exciting activities such as: Skiing & Snowboarding, Caving, Hiking, Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Horse riding and more! Be sure to contact Outdoor Adventures directly if you have questions.
