When disaster strikes, the lasting results are often devastating. The uncertainty of next steps after assessing damages can leave a daunting picture.
What if this sense of frustration and hopelessness was happening in your community, where every year children and staff members fear for the ceiling and roof above their heads malfunctioning, the air they breathe needing constant purification, a hot day inhibiting learning because of stifling heat with no central air conditioning, another day of changing classrooms because their learning space has been ruined by another burst pipe? Well... it IS. This is the reality of the conditions of the Richmond Heights Elementary School.
Yet, the hope that often glimmers in the face of adversity is the sign that others--our neighbors--are willing to step in and help. This is our shared mission, community members of Richmond Heights.
The pictures and videos above give you a glimpse of some of the ongoing issues that we have with our old facilities.
The elementary roof, boiler, and pipe issues have cost $1.5 million in repairs in the last few years. Additionally, the district's operating budget will be a $1.2 million deficit if the levy does not pass.
This November's crucial ballot issue would provide funding to build and operate a 21st Century Community Learning Center for our Elementary School students, as well as ensure that our entire campus can operate properly and safely.
Can we count on you to join in the mission of one of the greatest opportunities in your community--saying yes to supporting the needs and development of your youngest citizens at the elementary school and the operation of the entire district?
