A Message from the ISTAT President
As I mentioned earlier this year when I stepped into the role of ISTAT President, 2021 looked promising but was still going to have its challenges, both for our industry and for our association. I am pleased to share that ISTAT has successfully hosted two in-person events so far this year – the ISTAT Miami Conclave in April and the ISTAT Latin America Forum held in Mexico City in August. Both events had strong participation, with 350 joining the Conclave and 160 people at the Forum, which had 20% airline attendance. Most importantly, members were thrilled to be together again.

Aviation Professionals from Around the World Gathered for the ISTAT Latin America Forum
Last month, the ISTAT Latin America Forum welcomed more than 160 global aviation professionals, with nearly 20% airline representatives in attendance. Highlights included keynote addresses from the CEO of Alta and president and CEO of Volaris, along with insightful conversations from a variety of other industry professionals. As an ISTAT member, you support the ISTAT Foundation’s core programs; but how much do you know about these programs? ISTAT Online recently featured the ISTAT Foundation's programs in a series of Learning Labs, available on demand for you to catch up on:
ISTAT U and Internship Programs: The ISTAT Foundation, by way of the ISTAT U and Internship programs, assists young professionals interested in learning more about the aviation finance and trading industry. Get direct insights on the value and benefits of both programs from ISTAT U and Internship Program participants, as well as what to expect as an ISTAT member company internship employer.
Grants Program: The ISTAT Foundation Grants Program is actively engaged in awarding aviation-related grant funding to nongovernmental, not-for-profit organizations around the globe that advance commercial aviation. Watch this 30-minute session to learn more about this program from Sigthor Einarsson and incoming Grants Program Chair Eddo Weijer.
Scholarship Program: The ISTAT Foundation Scholarship Program helps young people develop careers in aviation by offering scholarships to college-level students who are academically qualified and in need of financial support. Hear from past scholarship recipients as they share the value they received from this opportunity, as well as insights from a university partner and their view on why others should nominate students for this unique benefit.
Humanitarian Aid Program Gives Back: The ISTAT Foundation Humanitarian Aid Program showcases how the aviation community can join together to aid those in need. In 2020, 15 organizations across six countries received humanitarian aid funds. Watch this session to hear from Humanitarian Aid Program chair Richie Wall and three past grant recipients about the impact of the Foundation’s support.

ISTAT Appraising - An Introduction at ISTAT EMEA
As part of ISTAT EMEA, the ISTAT Appraisers Program will once again present ISTAT Appraising – An Introduction for those interested in the practice of appraising or learning more about appraisals and what they mean. Plan to attend this event, Sunday, 3 October from 15:30-17:00 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Lammermuir Room 1.
This complimentary session hosted by ISTAT Certified Appraisers features an inside look at the ISTAT Appraisers Program, aircraft appraisal fundamentals and steps to becoming an appraiser. It will also address commonly asked questions about appraisals for those who use them.
