In addition to its planned giving in 2021, ISTAT is committing, by way of the ISTAT Foundation, up to US$100,000 for the purpose of immediate COVID-19 relief through Airlink's Operation Airlift India, as the region continues to be deeply impacted by a rapid and deadly surge of the virus. The Foundation has granted an initial US$50,000 to Airlink and is also launching the ISTAT Foundation Matching Gift Campaign through which it will match up to US$50,000 in additional grant funds raised by corporate and individual donations. Last month, the ISTAT Miami Conclave welcomed more than 350 aviation professionals from around the world, serving as the first opportunity for the community to gather again in person safely after the challenging year. ISTAT Board Member Sarah Aoun looks forward to convening again at other ISTAT events later this year, hopefully with more of her industry colleagues present as the vaccination rollout continues all over the world. Starting on 25 May with ISTAT Foundation Humanitarian Aid Program Gives Back, ISTAT Online will feature a series of four sessions dedicated to spotlighting the programs of the ISTAT Foundation. ISTAT Foundation Humanitarian Aid Program Gives Back will showcase how the aviation community can join together to aid those in need. Register to attend and hear from humanitarian grant recipients World Food Program (USA), Royal Flying Doctor Service and Mission Aviation Fellowship about the impact of the Foundation’s support over the years.

In its continuing response to the pandemic, the IAP held its initial first quarter exams outside of an ISTAT conference. A total of 14 appraiser candidates sat for appraiser certification in Dublin, London and the Washington, D.C., area. Three ISTAT Certified Appraisers sat for the senior appraiser certification exam in Bangalore, the Boston area and Dublin. The IAP is planning on hosting exams at testing centers again this autumn, sometime between when ISTAT EMEA and ISTAT Americas takes place.

Immediately after the ISTAT Miami Conclave, industry adviser Dick Forsberg; Betsy Snyder, S&P Global Ratings; and Mark Streeter, JP Morgan Securities, were all re-appointed by the ISTAT Board to two-year terms as non-appraiser members of the IBG.
