Subsoil moisture samples were taken in northwest Iowa as part of the annual fall survey by the Iowa State Extension Field Agronomists. Results were compiled from samples taken to a depth of five feet in one-foot increments. Soil moisture samples are weighed wet, dried for 48 hours and weighed dry. Soil moisture is then reported in inches of plant available moisture. Below is a link that will go into greater detail on the readings in northwest Iowa. Planter University

Planter University is upcoming at various locations across the state. In our area it will be held at the NW research farm near Sutherland.

Topics that will be covered is a review of the 2022 planting conditions, and a review of downforce. Breakout sessions will focus on planter maintenance, planter tech, planter attachments, side by side field trials, and data collection. Instructors will be Ben Covington and Levi Power from the Digital Ag group at Iowa State.
