Road Trip Tales: A journey to the West and back
By Dhruv Jagan, 9th Grade, St. Johns
Stop - 2 Chicago
Our last night at Niagara Falls, I did a Google maps search of the distance between Niagara Falls and Chicago. 556 miles, 8.5 hours! The big question; Will Uruvi be able to handle going to Chicago as well? She was enjoying the car ride and she was comfortable overall. Knowing my mom, I was dead sure that she would say “If we start something, we should finish it”. So as I guessed sitting on that hotel bed, without thinking twice, she decided we are going to continue. We got in the car, ready to head to Chicago. I was excited because my elementary school teacher, who is from Chicago, had recommended an awwesssome place to eat the world-famous Chicago style deep dish pizza! Read the rest of the story about dinosaurs, diamonds and deep dish on the ISW Website.
This is part of a new series by Dhruv Jagan that takes you on their exciting cross country trip this summer. Read the rest of the story on the ISW Website and don't forget to check in for the next exciting step of their journey.

ISW PEN: Planning for your Financial Future
by Ragoo Raghunathan
A rapt audience was engaged in conversation with an expert panel of financial advisors consisting of Kanan Sachdeva, Sharat Amin and Kartik Trivedi. The discussion ran for an hour and thirty minutes and covered a range of topics to help people develop a financial strategy.
"The meetup was a great opportunity for the community to be educated on financial matters," said Sankaran Mahadevan who moderated the panel. The participants had an interactive session with the panelists and the first session covered general topics like types of insurance and its benefits. The ISW-PEN team is planning more such discussions to educate its members on other financial instruments to invest for their future. These sessions will greatly benefit our community to navigate the various investment opportunities available in establishing their financial stability. We plan to cover more such topics in the upcoming sessions of the ISW-PEN initiative. Meanwhile do check out our next session on "Job Search Strategies" on October 9th, at the ISW India Center.

Ganeshotsav Celebrations
by Sarita Deshpande
On Sunday September 12th ISW's very own Shrewsbury Ganeshotsav Mandal (SGM) team celebrated Ganesh Festival with lots of enthusiasm and vigor, for the tenth year in a row. This year's festival at ISW had many significant highlights. First and foremost, it was held in the newly renovated India Center. Second highlight was the hand-made three and half feet Ganesh idol made of eco-friendly clay by Shrikant Savant, his wife Sapna and daughter Urvi. The third highlight of the event was the Dhol-Tasha. The team played the instruments (specially ordered from India) in a procession with many others dancing and rejoicing to the rhythm.
The pooja, aarti in the morning was performed by Guruji Shrikant Joshi which was telecast live on the ISW Facebook page and followed by a cultural program. All in all, it was a very colorful celebration with pooja, prasad, entertainment program, decorations and food, and the added grandeur of the newly renovated India Center. Everyone who attended the program enjoyed it thoroughly. You can read a detailed description of the event on the ISW Website and also view the videos of the cultural program and the pooja on ISW's Facebook page.
