Digital Citizenship / Nearpod
As we finish with the first semester, we want to remind teachers of our district Digital Citizenship plan for for all grade levels and access to the lessons through Nearpod. A
ll of the Digital Citizenship Lessons for your grade level can be found in Nearpod. Nearpod can be accessed through Clever by clicking on the icon and logging in with Google. Once in Nearpod, you can click on Mentor Exempted Village Library found in the left toolbar. In the library, you will see a folder for grade level bands where the Digital Citizenship lessons are located.
Nearpod continues to convert the "new" lessons to match the new Common Sense curriculum. Currently, all K-8 lessons have been updated and included in the Nearpod library. You will see a NEW label on each of these updated lessons. Feel free to use the lessons from last year or the NEW lessons as they become available (or a combination) to implement the Digital Citizenship curriculum this year.
At this point there are 10-12 lessons (6 old and 4-6 new) in grade levels K-8. We are still waiting for the 9-12 new Common Sense Media lessons to be added to Nearpod. As soon as they are updated, I will add them to the district library.
For clarity, the expectation again this year will be that each grade level will teach at least 5 of the Digital Citizenship lessons.
As mentioned above, this can be a combination of new and old lessons. Please use your professional judgement as far as the topics of the lessons where you feel your students would benefit the most.
