Fire Ban! Homeowners who rent please inform your guests that Ouray County is under a fire ban and that means us!
There was a brush fire as close as Owl Creek Pass caused by an unattended campfire. It is now out thanks to the RVFD. We are so grateful to the volunteer fire fighters who risk their lives to save ours.
Thank you to whomever put up the Fire Restrictions signs. We appreciate you for taking the initiative for doing so.

Three generous neighbors have volunteered their time and their chainsaws to remove dead Aspens if anyone needs help. Thank you so much for helping prevent wildfires. We hope to get more volunteers. Please contact
emhoa.secretary@gmail.com to request services or volunteer to remove dead trees.
If you prefer to do yourselves, remember it is very important to clear dead trees as they only help to fuel a fire!

FRONT PORCH PHOTO PROJECT
|
|
Our neighbor, Deidra Krois, has a wonderful idea for a project during this unique and challenging time in history! She wants to create a photo documentary of other neighbors in our community who are self-isolating. With your permission, Deidra would stop by your home and take photos of you, your family, and or your pets, on your front porch or driveway, from six feet of course. She will also ask for a signed release to use your photo in MM, EM Archives or on the website. You will also receive your photo from Deidra. If you have any comments about how you are spending your time in quarantine you may share that as well. You may choose to comment anonymously. This is a voluntary project and if you wish to participate, please contact Deidra at
deidrakrois@gmail.com

Scott Layton has volunteered to be the Elk Meadows liaison with Clearnetworx. Thank you very much, Scott, for helping Elk Meadows get fiber optics, hopefully, some day. Please register for fiber optics at
http://clearnetworx.com/ridgway/
Many neighbors have a difficult, if not impossible, time getting their internet to work because of their location. Fiber optics would solve this issue. In the meantime, to help alleviate many neighbor’s difficulty in streaming, the Board would like to build a Free Library Box which would include books, DVDs, CDs and even canned goods to share with our community. We can purchase one or if someone would like a project and is handy with woodworking could volunteer to build one. We are open to suggestions and then find the ideal location.
Here are some examples:

Please remember to slow down in Elk Meadows to control dust that goes into people’s homes
and
because it is essential for safety. Many neighbors and their children and pets walk our roads. Also, there are deer who jump out in front of us at unexpected times.

TODAY'S UPDATE
A
s of June 27
the state of Colorado's death toll is 1647. There now have been a total of 34,065 confirmed cases of the virus in Colorado with a total of 1701 deaths. A total of 352,758 people have been tested.

Gov. Jared Polis has
ordered bars and nightclubs to close again
for fear of spreading the coronavirus. He said the establishments have been linked to outbreaks in neighboring states like Texas and Arizona and he doesn't want that to happen here.
"Colorado is currently a positive outlier," Polis said. "We want to keep it that way, so we can continue reopening rather than being forced backwards at great economic costs and yes great costs in human life."
Polis said bars can still sell drinks to go. And bars that serve food will be allowed to stay open.
Here is a quick video from the Surgeon General on how to make a simple mask.

Please remember to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; washing every finger thoroughly as well as top and bottom your your hands.
Also, PLEASE check on your neighbors. If they are ill make sure they are getting the help they need. A simple phone call or a bag of groceries dropped at their doorstep is a huge help for many people at this time.

|
Please remember social distancing....it is working.
It is our only chance at containing this dreaded disease!!
STAY SAFE AND STAY WELL!!
