Meadows Monday

A mostly weekly news update from Elk Meadows HOA, Ridgway, Colorado
May 4, 2020
A FED BEAR IS A DEAD BEAR
The bears are out and about roaming Elk Meadows. Just a neighborly reminder to please secure your waste bins if you must keep them outside. Bears have been known to drag them off and replacement bins cost $201.86.  Also, please check the latch and makes sure it works properly.
If it does not, call Bruin Waste Management at 970.864.7531 and they will alert the drivers who will attempt to repair it. The less access to food the the more the bears will move on their way.
SAVE THE TREES
This is also the perfect time to staple your MCH bubbles to your Douglas-firs. Douglas-fir trees have short needles while Ponderosa Pines have long needles. Remove old bubble and staple new bubble on the north side of tree approximately 6 to 8 feet high. If you need MCH bubbles there is still time to order them. If you are unable to treat your trees because you are not here please notify the BOD at emhoa.secretary@gmail.com first and request neighborhood volunteers to help treat your Douglas-Firs. Then order your bubbles and have them sent to Kimberley Stagg, 44 Fawn Lane, Ridgway, CO 81432. The more trees we treat the more we will hopefully save.
Call/text Diane at 970 901-2845 -- she has 9 MCH bubbles left at $4.00 each.

Go to the link below to order your MCH bubbles.

PLEASE HELP!
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED IN ELK MEADOWS
Thank you to all the membership who have served on the EMBOD over the past years and to the members who are serving now. We need volunteers to serve on the EMBOD. Currently, we have four individuals serving on the board; Maggie Guscott, Scott Alamprese, Stephanie Kissner, and Kimberley Stagg. Scott will have served his term in July and will be leaving an open position. Belinda Chisolm’s term ended in July of 2019, but she continued to remain on the board because there were no volunteers for the position. She retired in December of 2019. There will be two open positions on the board.
Being on the board is voluntary but essential to managing Elk Meadows. We are all in this together and we need help, new ideas and suggestions in order to keep our community running smoothly. Please contact the BOD at emhoa.secretary@gmail.com if you are interested in helping the Elk Meadows community.
COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS

TODAY'S UPDATE
A s of today  the state of Colorado's death toll is 842. There now have
been a total of 16,635 confirmed cases of the virus in Colorado. A total of 81,352 people have been tested. All residents of Colorado have been asked by Gov. Jared Polis as well as President Trump to please wear non-medical masks when out in public to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Here is a quick video from the Surgeon General on how to make a simple mask.
And please remember to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; washing every finger thoroughly as well as top and bottom your your hands.
Also, PLEASE check on your neighbors. If they are ill make sure they are getting the help they need. A simple phone call or a bag of groceries dropped at their doorstep is a huge help for many people at this time.

Please remember social distancing....it is working.
It is our only chance at containing this dreaded disease!!
STAY SAFE AND STAY WELL!!
