Meadows Monday

A mostly weekly news update from Elk Meadows HOA, Ridgway, Colorado
June 29, 2020
SLOW DOWN!!!
Several of our homeowners have complained about people speeding, especially on Aspen Dr. and all the way to Fawn Lane. They are close to the road and the dust is getting into their homes so they have to close their windows which is their only source of cooling. The dust is also a health issue for many of them.
There are safety issues as well. We have new families moving into EM with small children and pets and the 20 mph speed limit is necessary to guard their safety.
Road maintenance: Now that we are grading the road and it is smoother people tend to drive even faster. This damages the smooth road by creating washboards, not to mention what it does to the vehicles themselves.
We have tried placing speed bumps but unknown person or persons have moved them. If people continue to choose not to comply with the 20 mph speed limit we may have to resort to solutions such as installing speed dips and lowering the speed limit to 15 mph like Ridgway and Telluride.
Please be considerate of your neighbors and respect the 20 mph speed limit.
DEAD ASPENS ARE A WILDFIRE WAITING TO HAPPEN!
We have had a lot of interest in removing the dead Aspens. We have volunteers willing to take down them down. We have contacted San Miguel Power Association to remove any dead Aspens near their power lines. We are on the list, but we do not know when they will be here. We will keep you updated.
According to The Plain Dealer, 6.25.2020 to 7.1.2020, pp. 1 & 17, this is going to be a long dry summer so please, no fires and smoke only indoors. Also, please be aware of where you park. A hot exhaust pipe in dry grass can start a wildfire.
When enough trees are removed we will hire a chipper to remove the slash later in the season.
Please contact us at emhoa.secretary@gmail.com to volunteer to cut down trees or have yours removed.  Liability Release
CLEAR NETWORX
There was some confusion in the last MM about fiber optic internet in Elk Meadows. Clear Networx is not coming to Elk Meadows at this time, but we were told to register anyway. The more people that register the more likely Clear Networx will come here in the future.
Please register at www.Clearnetworx.com/ridgway/

COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS
TODAY'S UPDATE
A s of June 27  the state of Colorado's death toll is 1647. There now have been a total of 32,307 confirmed cases of the virus in Colorado with a total of 1676 deaths. A total of 316,734 people have been tested. https://covid19.colorado.gov/data/case-data
Gov. Jared Polis released a statement yesterday... “ Coloradans have done a great job wearing masks when leaving the house, staying physically distant from others, and washing our hands but we are only a few short steps ahead of the virus and we need to do better. The data is now starting to show a reversal of some of our gains, the 3-day moving average for cases is now going up in our state,” said Polis. “This emergency extension helps Colorado further support our response efforts and remain prepared in the face of this global pandemic. I encourage all Coloradans to stay vigilant and we will get through this together .”

Here is a quick video from the Surgeon General on how to make a simple mask.

Please remember to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; washing every finger thoroughly as well as top and bottom your your hands.

Also, PLEASE check on your neighbors. If they are ill make sure they are getting the help they need. A simple phone call or a bag of groceries dropped at their doorstep is a huge help for many people at this time.
Please remember social distancing....it is working.
It is our only chance at containing this dreaded disease!!
STAY SAFE AND STAY WELL!!
