Bits and Pieces

January 14, 2025

I feel like I want to stand on a ladder, spread my arms, and loudly announce "IT’S SHOWTIME"!!! We just finished our first show, and everyone was so happy to see and vote for some beautiful and beautifully quilted quilts, chat with the vendors, make some purchases, visit with friends, and learn some new things about machines, frames, tools, and more! We were in Yuma for the show and it was a great group of people to work with! The local Marines even came to the show---to help with setup and take down---, and the Marines used the opportunity to fulfill their community service obligation! Now we’re back home, getting ready for the next show.

That next show is The Rusty Barn Show January 30-February 1, at the Phoenix Fairgrounds. It is advertised as the Phoenix Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival; it’s a very large show taking place in two buildings, as usual. We have chosen to stay in the smaller, more manageable Green Building, the one where the classes take place. We will be in booths 901 through 905, we will be representing and demonstrating Grace frames, including the very small tabletop Cutie Breeze frame. For the first time, we will also have for you the even smaller Mini Quilter frame. The Breeze and Mini Quilter were designed for those of you who want to longarm your own quilts, up to a King Size, and have very limited space for the frame and machine. When I say they are both tabletop frames, that’s exactly what I mean, and they can fit anywhere! Come see them and us at the show, even do a little playing on any or all of the machines and frames we’re bringing to demo. to you. It’s fun, it’s easy, it doesn't have to damage anyone’s budget! We will also feature the Little Rebel which is capable of being a straight stitch piecing domestic machine as well as a longarm machine on a longarm frame. SAME MACHINE, different purposes.

We will, in addition to the above mentioned frames and machines, be bringing our full array of sizes of these wonderful machines and frames! If you’re in the market for a longarm, you must stop by and try out what we have. The prices are great, as is the company, the service, the education offered to you. I think the low prices will surprise you, as well as the fact that you’re not sacrificing any quality in machine or frame. Try it…you’ll like it!

Drop by the shop and pick up any of the bookmarks or flyers we have on display for you about other nearby quilt shows put on by various quilt groups and associations. This is festival season, and this area does not disappoint! The national Quilt Con Show is back in Phoenix this February, 20-23. More information coming to you later.

We still have a tiny bit of room for you in Marilyn’s Sew Sisters Class, where she is teaching a bargello quilt! As mentioned before, I really have no patience for this type of quilting, even though it looks beautiful. BUT WAIT: Marilyn has a very simplified pattern version that I would definitely consider making. Matter of fact, she can whip them out so easily that she’s brought multiple bargello samples to hang in the classroom. They are stunning! Come in and see! But get signed up and paid before the space for you is gone. That would be just too sad! Oh, ooops. I just found out that this class on Jan. 22 for Bargello has indeed closed. However, we have a waitlist started if you want to sign up for a different date. The next earliest date would be Feb. 25, so if you’re interested, please let us know so we can adjust/change the class schedule for Feb. 25. This quilt is just too good to miss!!!

Going to stop now, before another idea hits me that I just HAVE to share with you, but not before I tell you our weekly fabric special at 20% off!!! Let’s get some interest going for you, as well as possible stash-building, and make the special BLENDERS and BASICS. Just give us the code BLENDERS20 when you check out or order and pay online (www.sunvalleyquilts.com) to receive your 20% discount!!! Everything is listed online and can be found on our website, so you can shop any time of day you prefer. Now that I’m really well, stop by and chat when you have the time. It was very, very lonely at my house when I was told to stay put and heal. Not heel, mind you, because that would be Murfee and Katie, but heal as in get back to normal!
