Coming This Fall:

Sensitivity Labels

for Documents & Emails

To All MMC Staff,

To ensure the security of information MMC creates and shares internally and externally, we will be rolling out a new Microsoft 365 feature called Sensitivity Labels company-wide. Our Finance and HR teams are already using this new security measure – so you may receive a document or email that includes this new element.

What are Sensitivity Labels?

Sensitivity Labels are an electronic classification you apply to Word, Excel, PowerPoint files and to Outlook emails. They allow you to share sensitive information securely – by restricting access to only the people you authorize. Best of all, the process is simple. Sensitivity Labels are applied with a single click from within those Microsoft applications.

Outlook for Email on Company iPhones

If you have a company-issued iPhone, you must use the Outlook app for email to have access to Sensitivity Labels and to read emails that have labels applied. The Apple Mail app does not offer these important features and is not to be used for company email.

If you need assistance in moving from Apple Mail to Outlook on your company iPhone, please contact the HelpDesk.

Rollout Timing

We'll be introducing Sensitivity Labels over the next few months. You'll be notified about the specific timing for your department – and the IT team will be scheduling brief webinars to make adoption easy. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact us at help@mohawkmedbuy.ca.

Sincerely,

MMC IT Security Team
