IVIR Presenting at ITEC
Join Erin Honold, Senior Engineer, and other panel members at ITEC on May 16 in Theatre 2 from 11:30 - 12:00 in a presentation titled, "A Standardized and Modular Object Model for Medical Modeling and Simulation for Distributed Training." As part of the JETS program, IVIR developed a model that provides a foundation for interoperability among a variety of medical simulation technologies.
Spotlight on System Engineering
IVIR's utilization of system engineering processes results in successful product and educational design concept development which leads to product commercialization. The process integrates all of the disciplines and specialty groups such as hardware, software, middleware and education into a team effort for a structured development process from concept to production to operation.
Combat Casualty Training
On the battlefield, a medic serves as the front line of emergency care, treating the wounded and preparing them for evacuation from danger. IVIR's research focused on three critical areas of trauma care: hemorrhage control, airway management and emergency medical skills. The effectiveness of existing training modalities were evaluated and assessment tools were developed with recommendations for further training to improve retention and competence of medics in pre-hospital combat care settings.
