articles were announced today by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA).
The Excellence in Authorship Awards are named for former
TET
Review Board Chair, and longtime ITEEA member, Gerald Day. With his many years of editorial experience, Day felt strongly about creating this award program that recognizes outstanding technology and engineering educator authors.
The award winners are determined by
TET
readers, utilizing ITEEA’s annual Communications Survey.
The 2019-2020 Gerald Day Excellence in Authorship Award winners:
- Top Overall Article: “Building Problem-Solving Skills through STEAM," in which the authors share insights from a STEAM summer camp that focused on authentic problem solving through art and robotics. By Thomas Roberts and Jerry Schnepp. (May/June 2020)

- Top Peer-Reviewed Article by a Classroom Teacher: “Developing a STEAM Program for Middle School Girls through Community Collaborations," which presents innovative strategies being successfully implemented in a middle school "Girls in STEAM" Program. By Ray Wu-Rorrer. (November 2019)
- Top Volunteered Article: “Jackson's Mill to Chinsegut: The Journey to STEL," a review of the year-long plus effort that will culminate in the upcoming Standards for Technological and Engineering Literacy.
