What is your favorite thing about San Diego? My favorite thing about San Diego is the fact that you can easily go to a variety of different places throughout the county, and there’s always a place for everyone to be able to go and love no matter what your interests are.

What do you miss about home? I’m going to consider where my mom lives right now (Sitka, Alaska) home, because it’s a part of traditional Tlingit territory and even though I didn’t grow up there I can always feel my heart longing to go back. It’s absolutely beautiful there and I feel like a completely different person when I’m there - in a good way, like I’m transformed somehow.

What advice do you have for incoming students? I strongly advise incoming students to be open to exposing yourself to new cultures and push yourself a little beyond your comfort zones so you can really explore and get the most out of your experience at UCSD!

What We've Been Up To
ITRC Family Night Holiday Party

The ITRC celebrated the end of a stressful fall quarter and the start of the holidays with students with community, games, and a raffle.

The big winners of the night were Ivan Rajen and Burgundy Fletcher. Each received a holiday gift basket in the raffle. The ITRC will host its next Family Night on Thursday, January 21st at 4pm.
Winter Solstice Prayer Hour
Community members held a virtual Winter Solstice Prayer Hour on December 19th. The prayer hour was hosted by the Rincon Indian Education Center/Rincon Youth Storytellers and Condor Visual Media. Some of UC San Diego's Native American student organization leaders recorded a few words for Native American youth on what it means to be a leader. You can watch our student's video HERE.
