NEW RESOURCE: ITRC’s Biological Contaminants of Emerging Concern (BioCECs) Guidance

ITRC’s new BioCEC Guidance helps environmental and health professionals identify, evaluate, and manage biological contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa in water, soil, air, and waste.


The resource introduces key tools and concepts, including the One Health approach, Conceptual Exposure Models, and case studies to support effective risk assessment and management.

2025 Training Successes!


We’re excited to share the 2025 training results from ITRC webinars hosted by the EPA CLU-IN. This year, ITRC led the way in both live attendance and archive replay engagement!


Three ITRC sessions ranked as the top three most-attended live webinars of the year:

  1. PFAS Beyond the Basics: PFAS Fate and Transport, Site Characterization and Source ID – 794 live participants
  2. Introduction to Hydrocarbons – 761 live participants
  3. PFAS Beyond the Basics: Sampling, Analysis, Surface Water & Air Occurrence – 735 live participants


ITRC also secured the top three spots for online archive replays:

  1. PFAS Introductory Training – 1,990 replays
  2. Introduction to Hydrocarbons – 1,412 replays
  3. PFAS Beyond the Basics: Human Health, Ecological Effects & Regulations – 928 replays

ITRC Outreach

DOEE Annual All Hands Mandatory Meeting


On October 25, 2025, District of Columbia SEP POC Nazmul Haque represented ITRC at the DC DOEE Annual All Hands Mandatory Meeting. He shared information about ITRC’s training and resources that help environmental professionals address complex challenges and implement effective solutions nationwide. 

UST and Groundwater Conference in Wetumpka, AL


Jessica Rayfield, Dusty Hawkins, and Richard Hamner, from the Alabama DEM attended the UST and Groundwater Conference in August. They shared ITRC resources with attendees and highlighted their expertise through their respective ITRC roles as Board Member, State Engagement Program (SEP) member, and Team Leader.

ALGA ecoforum

ITRC Director, Charles Reyes, recently served as a keynote speaker at the ALGA ecoforum 2025, held October 28–30 in Brisbane, Australia. His keynote address emphasized the importance of ITRC’s growing international partnership with the Australasian Land & Groundwater Association (ALGA) and the shared mission of advancing environmental best practices across borders.

ITRC Training at RemTech Expo

In September, ITRC’s Pump & Treat Optimization and PFAS Training Teams delivered training in collaboration with RemTech Expo. The two-hour sessions provided participants with foundational knowledge on the subjects and ITRC’s guidance documents and demonstrated ITRC’s ongoing commitment to supporting global education.

2026 Industry Affiliates Program (IAP)

ECOS


ITRC affiliate ECOS is excited to announce its upcoming 2026–27 Member Meeting Series, spanning from Savannah, Georgia, to Jackson, Wyoming, and Washington, DC!


  • Spring 2026 Meeting (March 29–April 1, Savannah, GA) Theme: Environment–Economy Nexus — exploring balance between environmental protection and economic growth. Hosted jointly by Georgia and South Carolina ECOS agencies.
  • Fall 2026 Meeting (August 30–September 2, Jackson, WY) Theme: New Vistas in Environmental Protection — showcasing innovative state-led solutions, with another Shark Tank on a timely topic.
  • Spring 2027 Meeting (March 21–24, Washington, DC) Coinciding with a new congressional session and new gubernatorial terms. The 2027 Fall Meeting host state will be announced this spring.

ASTSWMO


ASTSWMO held its Annual Meeting on October 23-24 in Arlington, Virginia. The meeting’s theme was “Sustaining Core Programs Through Innovation and Reform”, and the meeting sessions focused on topics such as streamlining updated cleanup policies and navigating future funding challenges. The presentations and recordings from the meeting are available on the ASTSWMO website.


In other ASTSWMO news, the ASTSWMO Board of Directors has approved the 2026-2031 ASTSWMO Strategic Plan. The new Strategic Plan retains the mission statement, vision, and three goals from the previous plan and focuses on actions to be undertaken by the Board and Subcommittees to support the Association’s mission. Read the full Strategic Plan here.
